What was the source frame rate of the footage? The only time I’ve seen these types of problems is when people edit footage at 23.98 in a 29.97 timeline. This is because when a 24P file is put in a 29.97 timeline imaginary (duplicate) frames are created. If you change the sequence back to a 23.98 sequence, then it will remove those imaginary (or duplicate). This will cause gaps to be formed. If you were syncing audio, it might mean that it was synced on a duplicate frame.
Anyways, if this is the case, you really need to go through and manually adjust the timeline. This is an editing mistake and it’s going to take some boring editing hours to get it fixed.
If the film was really shot at 29.97, you should really consider a different way of making it 23.98 and really figure out if you really need to even go to that frame rate.

In the new Compressor, it can add a post action to a compression job. For example, if you compress a file, then when it’s done, Compressor will burn a DVD or Blu-ray of that file. I’ve successfully done this and it’s quite slick.
I’ve also created 5.1 files using the add surround sound tab. What I haven’t figured out yet is how to combine a surround AC3 file with the video post action to burn a Blu-ray or DVD.
I’ll keep playing around.

It looks to me like the xml/automator batch list isn’t properly formatted. Try ordering the columns in the same order, using more digits in the duration field, and making sure that there is only one tab between columns.

I don’t know of any log, but if you drag the file that you created into the setting folder, it should create a new preset based on the settings you used, though I don’t know if it will show any advanced settings.

Some people like to know that they’re editing in the highest possible standard they can, even if they don’t understand what makes it better. That’s why we still see people importing files out to ProRes 4444 when they’re starting with 8-bit, highly compressed codecs. Why? Because they can and they don’t really get a grasp on the point of diminishing returns.

I’ve always been a fan of more processors. Intel is suppose to announce a new processor soon with six cores sometime in March. It’s the Intel i7 970x. If Apple decides to pick it up, that would make their Mac Pro systems have 12 physical processors and 24 virtual processors. You’ll need a bigger screen just to see the different threads when you open Activity Monitor:)
It isn’t for sure that Apple’s going to do anything with this processor, but I think the chances are petty good that within a few weeks from now, there could be a different line up in the Mac Pro category. This could make the current 8-core models less expensive too. If you can wait for mid-March, it might be worth it for you. Then again, you might just be going three more weeks depriving yourself of a nice speedy computer.

Try outputting using a custom preset in Compressor and setting the frame size manually to what you want.

You might try using a ProRes sequence setting instead of Uncompressed for size reasons. Quality will be just as good.

Jeremy is totally right here. If you want better color correction, shoot on a format that has less compression.
