Hi, I’m using FCP7 and do my projects in PAL (720×576) but when I output an image sequence. FCP/Quicktime automatically output the image as 768×576. I’ve checked and there are no options for output size. I want to keep the image size at 720×576.
    Any idea ?

    Thanks

Try outputting using a custom preset in Compressor and setting the frame size manually to what you want.

    Hi.

That image size is actually correct. Final cut pro is doing the work for you in converting from a non square pixel aspect ratio to square. If you search in the FCS help manual “Pal CCIR” it will lead you to the page explaining graphics sizes preferred by final cut to mix with footage.

Incidentally when you create a graphic in Photoshop and choose PAL Square pixel you also get 768 x 576.

It is much more convenient to work in square pixels for graphics as it minimizes the chance of unwanted stretch or squeeze.

    Hope That helps

Hi Russell, Dave, thanks for the advice and explanation.

I did use Compressor to output the image sequence in the size that I wanted but it used to be easier just using quicktime conversion.
FCP 6 did not re-size the image sequences, so was just wondering why FCP 7 does it. I understand it FCP 7 assist in converting pixel aspect ratio if I output a single image, but image sequence usually is for video work.

I did have a problem with not being able to name the image sequence to how I would want it to be named.
