This was an older problem that we used to see on Windows systems, but has been resolved for a long time.

You can try to save the track data to an external file, than either open that and copy to the clipboard before pasting OR try mochaImport+ script. https://mamoworld.com/tools/mochaimport

But a 3rd party tool is not necessary.

I suggest that you log a case: https://www.imagineersystems.com/support/contact-support/

Sounds like it would be more appropriate to use mocha’s transform data export (not corner pin) and than paste it onto a null to drive your lens flare.

The issue you are experiencing is related to AE’s corner pin effect which sales from the image size, not mocha.

January 2, 2015 at 7:36 pm in reply to: Real motion tracking with 3d text in vegas?

mocha Pro, mocha plus and mocha HitFilm all have a 3D camera solve module, but is more used for tracking a static object in a moving camera scene. That said, many mocha users do this kind of work by tracking the motion with 2D planar tracking and faking the 3D .

For accurately 3D tracking a moving object, you may want to look into dedicated tool like Syntheyess or PFTrack.

Either way, your issue is that Sony Vegas is not a 3D compositor. You will want to composite the graphic in true 3D space with a dedicated 3D compositing system like After Effects, HitFilm, Fusion, Nuke etc.

    Hi Kevin,
I would suggest logging a support case as this does not sound like standard behavior.

“1920x1080i clip in 1080 AE comp. Send to Mocha. The surface and adjusttrack zoom window isn’t representative of the area that I am trying. For example, if I’m trying to find the exact corner of an iphone (white bezel and black screen area), the zoom window is nowhere close to there, just showing a blurry white mess. Any sort of fix?”

  • If you have mocha Pro, you can eliminate the AE step and simply render out your mattes to Resolve.

You can even render out multiple color channels as a trick to get 3 mattes in one render.

What version of AE and mocha are you using? This was fixed a while back.

At worst you can precomp your layer and use the force motion blur effect.

December 3, 2014 at 10:39 pm in reply to: Internal tracking data exchange ?

It is a nice idea. We do have a “send to mocha” function for Adobe After Effects, Scratch and even a new Python script for Nuke. If you’d like to email me offline about ideas, that would be great. It is not hard to write a script that launches mocha and points it to certain clip.

The issue is accessing the Resolve cached media and it would be cool if this was available as an “outsource” or reference file for 3rd party devs.

We are quite interested in better supporting Resolve, but so far the only option has been OFX and this is not the ideal workflow.

    Hi Sascha,
Thanks for the feedback. Creating a mocha OFX plug-in that could run natively in Resolve is definitely something that we are considering developing in the future. Would love to hear more thoughts from other Resolve users.

Currently the only way we to import mocha planar tracking data into Resolve is using Boris FX BCC. Note: it requires is the Corner Pin effect or track effect so, the limited BCC Motion Tracker Unit would work.

For roto-masking, you would need to render.

We’d love to have a Resolve Tracking format to export to, so perhaps it is worth suggesting this as a feature request?

December 2, 2014 at 10:52 pm in reply to: Mocha Pro – Stabilize plate for 2d planar tacking?

Mocha does not automatically calculate lens distortion. There is a specific module for this found in mocha Pro and mocha Plus. Sorry to say, not found in the Adobe bundled mocha AE.

That said because the robustness of planar tracking, often you can get a very good track without doing and lens calibration and many of mocha AE users are achieving excellent results without dealing with calibration.
