The default of mocha is to have “automatic keyframe” button on, so you should be adding keyframes as you go. It is possible this was turned off? It is the big ‘A” button in the KEYS section of the transport tools under the viewer.

November 24, 2014 at 7:55 pm in reply to: Mocha Pro – Stabilize plate for 2d planar tacking?Hi Duca,
It depends what your goal is. In general I would suggest not pre-stabilizing your footage before any mocha work, similar to the 3D tracking workflow you describe.mocha Pro and mocha Plus both include a lens calibration module that will certainly help the process and can be applied to undistort the footage, assist the tracker OR to be applied to the tracked insert. (there is a free mocha shape plug-in for After effects for this purpose).
That said, mocha is quite robust and more often than not users get great results without applying any lens calibration. Hope this helps.

Keep in mind that AE’s 3D camera tracker is great for static objects with moving camera, but not really the proper tool for an object that is moving within the scene such as tracking a moving car.
You can find this link for free learning tutorials:

Pretty straight forward using mocha AE for the tracking which comes free with Adobe After Effects.
1. In After Effects, select your footage layer and go to animation>track in mocha AE
2. in mocha draw a shape around the book. (turn on perspective in track tab) and track forwards.
3. position the surface (the blur rectangle) where you want the corner pin to be applied. (use book corners for reference)
4. Export track data as AE corner pin option (copy to clipboard)
5. Back in After Effects, select your text layer and paste.Note that your text layer should be pre-comped to full comp size first, but there are options to deal with this in AE.
lots of mocha AE tutorials are found here: https://www.imagineersystems.com/video/?dd=dateNew&orderby=date&order=DESC

You would create a new mocha layer and draw a shape where you want your screen mask. Next, link it to the track layer. Then export shape to mocha AE and copy to clip board.
You can than paste this (edit>paste mocha mask) in AE and you will have AE AE mask on which ever layer you choose. (many ways to set up the actual composite).

Folks,
Note that there is a way to get mocha tracking data into Avid MC/Symph. You can track a shot in mocha and then import the track data into Boris BCC corner pin effect.mocha can handle jittery, out of focus and difficult tracks that the point tracker found in Avid can not.
Here is a quick tutorial:

The nice thing about mocha Pro’s removal tool is that it gives you lots of options for removing the object including the ability to match lighting and interpolate from clean plates when necessary.

If the objects that you are tracking are moving on the same relative plane, this is quite easy for mocha AE.
Track your object in mocha AE, right before it goes offscreen, stop the track and move your search area to another object that is moving on the same plane. Continue the track.
Or you could use the X+ button and draw a 2nd shape on the other object.
Hope this helps. Mocha AE is designed to handle complex tracking, so it is quite possible that you do not need to “average” tracks to accomplish your goal.
You can find lots of mocha AE tutorials and I recommend starting with these:

Of course, this screen insert example is just “one” of the very many applications you could use mocha’s planar tracking within Resolve. But note, using corner pin tracked data, you could replace a sky, billboards, set extensions, etc.
When you export mocha track data, there is also the option to “invert” which will equal a stabilization.
Now that Resolve 11 has more finishing features and plug-in support, I believe we’ll see more artists pushing the VFX that can be done within there grading suite.
