try googling photomosaic. maybe closer to what you need to do.
also look at https://www.ayatoweb.com/ae_tips_e.html
examples #31 and #50 might be a good starting point to build a wall of your building.

“American Night?! How racist!”
what a silly rejoinder, even lamely trying to be funny you seem to somehow think “American” connotes some racial component. last time i checked it’s a country (extremely multi-racial at that) or a style perhaps. i don’t get it even as an attempt at self-defensive humour. why bother commenting with a non sequitur that isn’t even humorous and is useless as well.

irritating isn’t it? i’m not sure where the problem lies (i don’t think it’s actually a memory thing) but i’ve never been able to render h.264 from afx in 6.5 or 7.0., it can also be problematic using h.264 as source footage. i gave up and always use qtime pro to convert from afx animation renders to the h.264 codec. i don’t use it myself but compressor would probably do the trick also. someone else probably has a good tech explanation for the problem.

thank you so much. those all work now. i’ve looked at the demo tut’s again and am starting to get it. yikes! what amazing tools. i hope to be able to master them soon and banish all my bad camera moves.
btw, when you speak of “trim” in regards to the camera what does that refer to? i’ve never encountered that as a camera term before. thanks again.

November 5, 2006 at 11:36 pm in reply to: SteadyCAM_FREE_EDITION | Camera Animation for All!it’s free, it’s complicated and there’s “no support in any form, questions will not be answered.”
just wondering if anyone on the forum could help out with this thing. it looks interesting but after looking at the docs and quickstart movie i can’t get it to work or appear when you try to load it even though it’s in the plug folder and it shows up in the tag list. (the navigator, flight and goal will load but neither the glide or the SteadyCAMPROv21 seem to be functional at all). even though the tags are there, when you try to load the object files . . . nothing.
i’m running c4d 9.6 on a mac 10.3.9. the release notes say it can be used with cinema 9.1-10. is it a mac thing or am i missing something? (it wouldn’t be the first time.)

October 27, 2006 at 7:39 pm in reply to: Urgent! Photoshop related but Im getting no responses.you didn’t mention if you have afx but if you do, try importing the pshop file as a composition, select all the layers in the comp and trim them to 1 frame duration, then use the keyframe assistant to sequence the layers with no transition, each layer 1 frame long, then export or make movie where the movie is a png sequence that will get stored to a single new folder that you name. you’ll have a folder with the individual png’s sequentially named/numbered. should work.

thank you very much for taking the time to post that. i was missing the time offset in the other menu of the step effector. i get it now, (at least that part). it’s a simple solution with much more control than through the particle emitter of the end radii/sizes of the rings. looking forward to your continuing tutorials. in spite of my failure with this little problem they are very helpful and informative. thanks again mylenium.

MIP-or SAT doesn’t seem to have any effect on alpha edging, only on the sharpness of the actual image content.
the path i finally worked out to get a perfectly clean edge was to prep the photoshop art with no background AND create a separate alpha channel in the same pshop document. (seems redundant but it works). load the same pshop file into the color and the alpha channel of the C4d material shader. in the “Alpha” pane deselect the default “soft” setting and select “image alpha”, keep color & delta as black/white and select invert (depending on how you made your pshop channel). then select the “Texture” button (where the name of the loaded material is) and then “Layerset Select” in the shader properties area. (this was what was screwing me up. you’re now 3 menus down in the alpha shader menu). in this Layerset pane hilite the “Alpha Channels” button instead of “Layers/Layer Sets” and also make sure you hilite the alpha layer pic that appears below the 4 buttons. (the type descriptor will turn red). even though you selected the “alpha channels” button, if you don’t hilite your alpha image below it, it won’t work properly.
it seemed hidden and slightly counter-intuitive but it worked for me, really seamless edges on photoshop alpha elements.

i agree with mylenium. big mistake. use the lossless codec out of afx.
