    also, if the type doesn’t show up as an extrude after you drob the ill8 outlines into the xnrb, make sure the hierarchical check box in the xnurb object properties is checked. it’s a slight gotcha’, at least it got me.

    in c4d 10 it seems to work cleanly by just putting the same photoshop cutout/still in the color and the alpha channel as brian mentioned. i had problems with this alpha fringe in C4D 9 with some photohop art. maybe check this:

    not as tricky perhaps but this will also work i think: make 2 white solids with their blend mode as difference, then where the 2 whites overlap you’ll get a black area. add an invert adjustment layer effect on top to give you the visual effect of 2 black solids that intersect and create white overlap area.

    using my mac afx 7.0 serial number i was able to get a new 24 digit temp serial# from adobe labs but after i downloaded and installed the new beta afx, when i try to enter the new number it says it is not a valid serial number. the app will apparently only run for two days in this mode.

    i’m not sure that’s a help. a good cg roll needs to use sub-pixel motion to appear smooth i think.

    for the mac and quicktime i’m a big fan of the h264 codec, at high to best quality i can’t really see a difference from the animation source movie even with motion graphics, and the file sizes are amazing for the quality. it’s especially handy when i need a source clip from someone to be posted on ftp or idisk. once you get it downloaded export it out of qtime pro to a lossless codec and continue working with it in afx as needed.

    thanks again dave. you’re right, totally counerintuitive but i’m hopeful. got forced into the intel g5 by a logic board that went out on my once trusty dual g4. with a deadline this is driving me friggin’ nuts. so lame, but who is to blame, apple? adobe? sheesh.

    thanks dave. that’s kind of what i thought. weirdly i couldn’t even find the .rsrc files on the hard-drive by name with a search/find. don’t know what that means. am going to check the plugz one by one.

    C4D will animate and AFX will composite
    * C4D works great with AFX
    * C4D most intuitive with outstanding support
    * C4D limitations include text use and longer renders
    * AFX limitations are animation
    So here

    January 27, 2007 at 8:41 pm in reply to: My “cartoon” look video….take a look

    E for effort but that is seriously ugly. what is the look supposed to communicate? what is the graphic metaphor? why do people think this “cartoon” look is cool? too many questions. even when done in a technically cleaner way its charmless, a total distraction in the linklater movie and it’s just creepy in the schwab commercials. let it go.
