Ah that explains it, getting my cntrl Z confused with my cmnd z. Is that a simple procedure to correct the video levels in color?

    many thanks

  • OK, thanks for all of that. I’ve done the check that Chadwick suggested and I can see a few things, I just want to double check what to throw away (if anything).

    I have:

    Siliconimage3132.kext
    Siliconimage3132r5.kext

should I get rid of the 3132 and keep the 3132r5?

    thanks

May 18, 2009 at 1:30 pm in reply to: Problem formatting seagate external drive

Yes my problem was that the drive I was sold was not for mac format and so therefore could not be formatted in anything other than FAT 32.

I have since bought a WD my book 1tb esata, this is specifically for mac and comes formatted mac os journaled.

However to get it working properly I have had to partition it (one partition) and via the options button formatted it in the GUID format which is for intel based Macs. This seems to have sorted out the problems I’ve been having.

I also needed to update the drivers for my Lacie PCI esata card.

    HOpe this helps.

4gig of RAM is the MINIMUM you should be using to edit HD, regardless of your match problems if you’re going to carry on with HD editing (virtually unavoidable) then up your RAM and you’ll be cooking on gas.

April 14, 2009 at 3:32 pm in reply to: having esata problems

It is formatted FAT 32, but no matter how I try the drive refuses to be formatted in any of the Mac formats. As I mentioned before other people have said that this drive is a good drive to use with my setup, so I’m assuming it’s not the drives fault; but maybe that’s a false assumption?

    Any suggestions?
