Tom, thanks for your reply, just a couple of quick questions.

1. you say put it into 1280×720, I did this (1280x720x72) but used the mm setting, should I have used pixel setting?

2. I know even less about photoshop than I do Final Cut, so sorry to be a pain, but could you please explain exactly how I put a single, low opacity pixel in each of two diagonally opposite corners of the file to maintain the layer size.

David, thanks for shedding some light on this for me, you’re right I didn’t use the presets, but rather tweaked them to try and get a high quality hd finish. I shall use the presets for my HD in future.

Mmm, I think the point is that I’ve never had problems before with this encoding and the first time I work with XDCAM footage I’ve run into this problem.

So if you or someone else could cast some light on that, that would be very helpful.

Hi Rafael, thanks for answering just a couple of quick points

Rafael: Do you have the Color Renders in your main HD?

I’m not sure, are they supposed to be? and How do I check that?

Rafael: “export as H.264 1920×1080 25fps key frame every 30s ”
That’s crazy.
Think that the MPEG-2 sets the a K-frame every 12 frames. Let that always in Auto unless you know well what are you doing.

You’re right I have no idea what I’m doing on this front 🙂

Rafael: You just need to decide if you want to finish at 1080 or 720.
Before rendering/exporting set “High Precision” and if you need to export a self-contained movie, do it to Prores

How do I set high precision?
I think I do export self-containeds to prores by default, but how do I check?

Also is this mix of footage a common thing with the XD was it an artistic decision or just a mistake do you think?

Yeah, I’ve got the same version of flash as you Craig, I will check it out with Vimeo support, I would try resubmitting but it happened with the other HD videos I’ve got up there as well and I’m sure it’s happened on someone else’s HD movie I’ve watched on there. Strange that it seems to work well in the US and not the UK though.

Anyway any more thoughts welcome and thanks for your time on this guys.

UPDATE: I just did a trouble shoot on vimeo and found out it’s their fault, guess I shouldn’t have been so quick to blame myself and done that first 🙂
