If you set the Caps Lock key on, it’ll do the same thing – ie. not update the Comp Window. What I like about this is that should I want to check on the render, while a render is going on, I can simply switch of the Caps Lock to see a preview of what’s happening.

For overnight renders, it’s best to close all windows, as you’ve prescribed.

By your reasoning, you could also then render at 512×576 with a 2.0 PAR. But that would half your horizontal resolution. 960×576 with a 1.067 PAR will give you fewer pixels than a 1024×576 image. Video resolution is measured in pixels – more pixels means higher resolution.

I’d suggest that you go the 1024×576 route to ensure that you have the maximum resolution required.

You will find an option for AI files in the Interpret Footage dialog – look for More Accurate.

Are you using QT 7+? If you are then there seems to be quite a bit of issue with the audio.
Your best bet is to revert to the version you had previous to the ver 7 upgrade.

If you have the production bundle of AE verison 6.5, then you would also have Cycore’s Force Motion Blur and Wide Time to mess about with. For a 3rd party solution, look at RevisionFx’s ReelsmartMotion Blur plugin.

Then it’s probably not out yet. There’s a lag between the Mac and Windows versions of QT. Your best bet is to uninstall your current version and reinstall an older version.
