Foam should do this quite nicely. You can have the dancer look like she’s in the bubble if you use her as a custom bubble. Once you set up the built-in bubble to your liking, save the settings for foam and paste it into a solid. The only change you need to make is to set the custom bubble parameter to point to the dancer. Of course it’s important that your dancer doesn’t make too many lateral movements.

AE’s Particle Playground works in a simulated manner and it requires information from a previous frame (other than frame 0) in order to render the next frame. Therefore, if you were to make parameter changes and then park your time indicator at the 5 second mark, AE will have to render all frames previous to the 5 second mark and then render the frame at the 5-second mark.

The general rule is to make changes and then park the time indicator at time zero to view and changes. From there, you might as well perform a RAM preview to view the rendered frames if you’re dealing with a computationally heavy PP comp. For light- weight compositions, you may get by with a little waiting after you park your time line indicator further down the timeline.

It’s also best to create a particle killer property map to kill off old particles. Check old postings for ways to create such a property mapper.

Your best bet is to break this into 2 comps! In the first comp, set your illustrator as large as it needs to be in the final comp. This may be as large as a 2000×2000 comp. Set Continuously Rasterize on for this layer.
Then nest this into a comp that is sized according to the the final resolution of your output. Animate the nested layer, include scaling down animation but never going above 100%. Set Motion Blue to on. Render away.

Good thread. I’m wondering what the server requirements are for true streaming. Isn’t it pointless/useless to provide a multi-variable file without having an RSTP? An associated Q would be, can a multi-variable be provided off a HTTP Website.

I’ve never seen that in all my years of using AE. Sorry. FWIW, AE will default to dropping a footage’s in-point where the Timeline Indicator is located. If you want more finesse, then drag the footage towards the right-side of the timeline, where clips are placed, and you can drop the footage’s in-point anywhere along the timeline.
