I’ve just bought and installed Captionator. When I click Export Destination after the welcome screen is does not give me a choice where to send it and it’s not coming up in FCPX. The YouTube videos skip that step.

I’m kinda stuck.

Since every foreign film we watch has a way to easily turn subtitles on, I’d think there is a not too difficult way to do it.

I don’t have the answer but I’d put money on YouTube having it. Looking forward to learning what you find.

Somehow the project I was working on ended up in the trash. I was able to rescue it (THANK YOU FCP!). It created a new Library. A YouTube video said you can drag the saved project into an event in the working Library. It doesn’t work. Also tried dragging it over the Library title. Nope.

I’m editing a three camera panel discussion I shot by myself. I used my iPhone as an audience reaction camera. When the multicam finished processing each shot of the iPhone came up as a different angle even though I had designated all as Camera 3.

I have a Sony DSR 45A deck that I’d like to use to digitize old DVcam tapes.
I believe I have the right cables but I don’t have a dedicated monitor for the deck and I don’t know what to do to record the tapes when I get it connected to my M-1 Mac.

Yes, I created The Second Life of Jamie P a feature doc with more than 9TB of footage. FCP handled it okay, sort of, but too late I realized I should have used <b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>Proxy files which increase editing performance and take up considerably less storage space than optimized files.

FCP 7 is nothing like FCPX. I had a project that I needed to edit myself and my friend who helped design the original FCP convinced me to use it. She would be my guru on X.

Am I looking in the right place? Audio mode where Volume, Audio Enhancements Pan are located? Below Mode/Stereo is Effects. There’s a box that needs to be checked but it will not. And, No Effects Applied.

Is there a plug in or work around where I can raise the volume above FCPX +12db?

I can’t change my audio roles at all. Upon importing I can make them green. I’d like music to be one color, other audio another, but nothing works.

Now that I finally able to insert the solid, I realize I don’t know how to use a solid to cover a sliver in the middle of the frame, see the right image. The place that needs covering is the sliver that pops out of black between me – small image – and the food. Is this possible?

One particular cut is not taking the disolve. I’ve changed it from 30 frames to 60 to 5, moved it to another cut. Nope.

Changed it to Divide which works fine.
Restarted FCP and computer.

Not the first time this has happened.

Still using Catalina.

I have the same problem, except I’m cutting a short. When I use those shortcuts it jumps way towards the tail.

I had some mic in shot issues, so I zoomed in to remove them while I was cutting. Now that the film is finished and am about to do color correct, I want to remove the adjustments, so the colorist can correct in Resolve.

How do I find those shots to remove the zoom?

what appears on my timeline are the image boxes, names of clips but no thumbnail image. Neither are the sound wave forms, so I can’t adjust sound levels within clips. I’m sure this is an easy click, but can’t find it for the life of me.

YES! That was it. Build In Build Out were both checked. When I unchecked them, no fade up. But interestingly, a few titles do not show those choices, only Published Parameters of which there are none. Odd.

I made no disolve, it seemed to be a default that I’ve not figured out. sometimes they pop, sometimes fade up. is there a place to change the default setting. dragging the disolve on the clip doesn’t change anything.

I’m creating titles using Lower Third. I line up multiple title clips, all fade up together. But they do not, one fades later. it’s happened a few times.

Issues have been reported from people using Sony cameras, especially the FS9, not importing. I have an FS5 and have had trouble exporting even though my footage was imported a long time ago. Can’t be sure it’s a FCPX problem.

Best advice is not to upgrade when in the middle of an edit. And to have Time Machine, so you can go back to Mojave if…
