Posted by Kyrina Bluerose on May 21, 2023 at 10:22 pmAny FCPX users have a way to do a transcription edit?

May 22, 2023 at 11:45 amHey Kyrina,
On-Line seems to be the best way of transcribing video.
There are one or two services that works as a plug-in to FCPX.There was recently an interesting conversation on transcribing on the A.I. COW, including FCPX recommendations:

May 22, 2023 at 2:45 pmFCPX by itself is a couple of years behind the competition on that. But the “Extension” SimonSays works really well. Coremelt had Scribomatic for awhile, I beta tested it, it was great, but they dropped it.

May 22, 2023 at 9:16 pmThank you! Will explore these suggestions.
Anyone familiar with Lumberjack? I think I saw a presentation at LACPUG awhile back.
It would be nice to work within FC.

May 22, 2023 at 9:27 pmLumber Jack, I know the developers, is a much more complex logging system. It’s more money, and lots of things you’d probably never use.

May 23, 2023 at 12:49 pmI used Lumberjack on 2 productions last summer – works well with FCPX and is not overly expensive – I didn’t use any logging functions, just transcription , and then text editing to create sequences – it’s worth doing the trial…

May 23, 2023 at 1:18 pmI use Speed Scriber. It integrates with the cut seamlessly and continues to improve.
Very good customer service.
Highly recommended.

May 23, 2023 at 1:30 pmThere’s MacWhisper which is free, and requires you to export the audio from FCP but is local desktop, not online. It doesn’t have much in the way of controls/features.

June 29, 2023 at 11:26 pmOK it doesn’t mesh with FCPX, which was the original poster’s ask, but I have to say I’m blown away by the accuracy and speed of MacWhisper as a standalone transcriber for audio. I’ve thrown some poor quality audio at it, even with some jargon and names, and it’s done an amazing job. It also copes with stumbles, repetitions, ums and ers, etc, giving a nice clear representation of what was meant. The developer charges a one off very modest payment, and each update so far has seen great improvements. I like it a lot. Now, if only it could sync with FCPX and give us text editing like Adobe!!

July 6, 2023 at 10:47 pmTranscriber released today from Ulti.Media through FXFactory. Based on AIWhisper “Large” module. Standalone but exports directly to FCP as Project in an Event as Titles.
