May 22, 2023 at 11:45 amHey Kyrina,
On-Line seems to be the best way of transcribing video.
There are one or two services that works as a plug-in to FCPX.There was recently an interesting conversation on transcribing on the A.I. COW, including FCPX recommendations:

May 22, 2023 at 2:45 pmFCPX by itself is a couple of years behind the competition on that. But the “Extension” SimonSays works really well. Coremelt had Scribomatic for awhile, I beta tested it, it was great, but they dropped it.

May 22, 2023 at 9:16 pmThank you! Will explore these suggestions.
Anyone familiar with Lumberjack? I think I saw a presentation at LACPUG awhile back.
It would be nice to work within FC.

May 22, 2023 at 9:27 pmLumber Jack, I know the developers, is a much more complex logging system. It’s more money, and lots of things you’d probably never use.

May 23, 2023 at 12:49 pmI used Lumberjack on 2 productions last summer – works well with FCPX and is not overly expensive – I didn’t use any logging functions, just transcription , and then text editing to create sequences – it’s worth doing the trial…

May 23, 2023 at 1:18 pmI use Speed Scriber. It integrates with the cut seamlessly and continues to improve.
Very good customer service.
Highly recommended.

May 23, 2023 at 1:30 pmThere’s MacWhisper which is free, and requires you to export the audio from FCP but is local desktop, not online. It doesn’t have much in the way of controls/features.
