I have no trouble assigning music roles, green, dialogue, blue, but I want to create a custom role/color it doesn’t work. I create a custom role, highlight the clip, right click, see the custom role already with a check mark. But it’s not the custom color. It’s the default.

It also doesn’t work in the Event, while assigning music, for example, does work in the Event.

I also only see video roles, not audio. Does that matter?

    I’m using Catalina 10.15.7

    thanks,

    Roger

What version of FCP are you running? I’m testing and unable to reproduce this issue. I’d do two things right off the bat. First, turn off background rendering (never turn it back on). Then via File menu delete render files for that Library. Finally, quit and relaunch FCP, while holding the Opt & Cmd keys at the same time, which allows you to delete FCP’s preference files.

If you only see video roles, that means there’s no audio content for that item. Likewise if you set roles for an audio-only clip, you’ll only be able to choose from audio roles, there will be no video roles presented.
