I just looked up “Title Factory” and the FAQ’s say it only supports Open Titles and not Closed Captioning so I’m assuming that program may not work. The price would have been right though.

Is there a way to add closed captioning directly to the Vegas timeline? The info on their update is very unclear to me.

This is where I got the information but I’m not clear on how the SCC file is produced. By the article just telling me to insert the .SCC file into the program doesn’t tell me much.

That’s a great question. I’ve had the same situation. I’ve dragged those clips up to another timelime to accomplish it but I’m hoping someone has a better way too.

Thanks for this information. I don’t know why this seems to such an industry mystery or secret. Surely others must be having to do this all the time. Even the many people that I’ve contacted who have the equipment to make the master tapes seem baffled.

Also discouraging hearing them them all tell me that Vegas is impossible. Sony really needs to make some improvements in this area so our projects can be brought to a stage where others in the field who don’t use Vegas can work with them.

I doubt if this is the total answer but you might try going to the preferences, video and then changing the Dynamic RAM Preview Max settings. I’ve had similar problems and as much as I love Vegas it has issues that no human should have to deal with constantly.

I totally agree. Sony needs to have Vegas work with the video that is shot with their cameras. Having to save our clips to another format isn’t acceptable to me.
I’ve spent several thousand dollars to upgrade my computer just so it will take care of M2ts files. Anything slower than an I7 processor totally fails and even with the fastest and best, Vegas does lack.

Glad to know this may be a bug and not something I have been doing to cause this. As you said, it’s just a minor inconvenience but one that baffled me.

Concerning the slip/move function:
I have often gone to that feature thinking that something has moved. 98% of the time those options are greyed out. Occasionally it’s available and I click slip and the pink turns white but nothing has visibly moved at all. AND sometimes but not very often often I click slip and the audio move FAR “OUT” of sync no where close to what it should be yet the clip turns back to white.

I’ve had that happen too. In my case I found out that a plug in I was using was causing the problem. In my case I had uninstalled the plug in and it was looking for it. I reinstalled the plug in and it worked. Don’t know if that’s your problem nor not. Hope so.

I’ve gotten so I save my project to different names like video1.veg and then video2.veg often so I can go back a few steps if I need to.
