Thanks again, Aaron. I got the titles to move using the Text Generator. I’ve used key frames before, and did again. By fumbling thru them and somehow getting it the way I wanted :).

I still don’t understand how to use them and the video you shared wasn’t very clear to me either.

But it’s done and i appreciate your help!

Thank you, Aaron — I will try these!

  • Installed ver 545 and it still freezes at Initializing DirectX.

I’m at a loss at what to do.

  • Sorry, why would Dolby AC pro help with a freeze issue around DirectX initialization?

  • Hi Graham

Thank you for your help! I am using build 453 — the last one. And the split previewing is in the track monitor pane. It’s gone now — I think it was connected to the red line that I got rid of by clicking on it — thank you.

But that strange black area is still there connected to a clip that I had put a velocity envelope on. And now when I start running the piece only the audio starts. This has happened before and has required a restart (sigh).

    Mark

the same happens to me with V13 and Win 10. i have to force V13 to c lose and restart. it can take several times. It may help to watch the progress bar to see where it happens in the app opening phase. For me it is always DirectX initializing. dont know why or why that hasn’t been fixed.

and I am running the last version.

    Hope this helps!

  • Thank you, Graham, i did that and it went back to normal, except (!) that there are still these strange black areas on the tracks and I can’t use the FX on clips there now. There is also a red edge to a clip and the playback screen shows a split image of two scenes! And notice the black area at the end of track 3.

  • I do use ver 453, and it still freezes on opening when it hits the Directx part of the start up. This last time it took 5 attempts. Froze at Directx each time and each time I had to Crl alt del and start over.

    is there a fix?

Thank you so much, Graham. This looks like am affordable solution. I appreciate your time to help.

Now I’m going to look really stupid because I realize that I have a mixer that may do this job:
    https://www.amazon.com/Saramonic-SR-AX107-Transformer-Attenuator-Camcorders/dp/B0191IA0R4/ref=sr_1_2?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1515949562&sr=1-2&keywords=saramonic+sr-ax107

I’ve been using it for audio mixing with my DSLR for 3 years, but never thought to use it at home. I rarely do need to record here so there’s that … ☺

But do you think this would do the job in a records to computer setting? I dont see why not — it uses an 1/8 inch stereo out and is powered by a 9v batt.
