Very interesting and useful information Mike, thanks! But I’d like clarity on two things. Aren’t your two examples exactly the same, and don’t you mean forward slash not backslash? Maybe I’m missing something here, but I just want to understand it completely. Thanks.

Hi, Terry…………yes it was you who provided the link to the post that gave the solution to my problem. So, thank you very much for that, it was greatly appreciated. But for Steve I was referring to the link he posted, that lead to http://www.rebelsguide.com post which was the thread that inspired me to download and try that ColorLab plugin in the first place. Just so that’s clear. A hearty thank you to each of you, I now have that plugin working properly.

Thanks for your help guys! At the exact time you posted your replies Carl E-Mailed me back, and you’re right I needed Beta 4 not Beta 3. Thanks once again for the direction, and especially thank you Steve for that link. Really enjoyed all the pearl of wisdom buried in those posts and tips.

Hi Miguel, cool video so far! You’re right you need better lighting to get rid of that shadow, and a better backdrop would improve things as well. I still say you can achieve better results using Vegas’ PIP in Pan/Crop. Adjust the opacity, as well as the size of the screen overlay and you’ll have a much more Pro looking effect. Besides you’ll be able to control the background, and your overlaying footage much better, add filters etc. You do not need Greenscreening for this effect. Greenscreening is for changing the background behind you, where none of the footage overlays on your body. Glad to see you have great taste in music, so rare to see these days.

Hi ya Lola, what you’re describing is not Chromakeying or (GreenScreening). To do what you want, it would have to be done by KeyFraming a Bezier Mask, and it would be an extremely boring drawn out task to do, frame by frame. Basically a Bezier mask can cut out any shape out of a video, so as your actor moved you would have to change the shape of the mask on each frame. It’s doable, but it’s a task and a half if you have to do it over many frames. It’s easy to do if the object or actor is stationary. Hope that helps a bit? Now if you simply wanted to add yourself to the existing footage, that would be easy, and done with GreenScreening.

Hi Miguel, you could get very close using P.I.P. in Pan/Crop, where you superimpose the film over top of the footage of you in front of the wall. Adjust the opacity, so you can see you behind the film, then add a few effects like old film and flicker to taste. I do like Mike’s idea of a green screen with you all dressed in green, that would definitely get the film to wrap around you. Though you would have to shoot the exact movements twice, once dressed normally and once all in green. It would be hard to synchronize the two, but would look great if you could pull it off. I think it would work better, if you stood still. Good luck, let us know how you get on!

September 3, 2008 at 7:59 pm in reply to: Encoding for Sony Ericsson Phone

Hi Larry, thanks for your interest, I am getting very close now! I downloaded a demo of AVS Video to Go. https://www.avs4you.com/avs-video-to-go.aspx With it, I successfully loaded a video into my Sony Ericsson W200a phone. Plays good, video quality is good and the audio quality was really good! Now the downside, the demo version leaves a watermark (Text actually, dead center in the screen.) Distracting, but I know the bought version won’t be doing that. Now for the reason I won’t be buying it. If you hit any buttons like pause or fast forward it causes the phone to lock up, to the point where nothing works, and has to be re-booted. Not to mention the screen turns off every 10 secs. Now that may be due to the folder I put it in, more testing required to determine that. I have to say the software interface is excellent, far superior to other ones I’ve downloaded and tested………with no luck. But if I can figure out these last few shortcomings I’ll be purchasing this product, ’cause it is really well designed. Back to more testing.
P.S. I’m still hoping Douglas will get back to us about that Adobe Product.

Hi Michael, thanks for the link I’ll try it. I know that the Ericsson wants 3GP’s in MP4 format, but it’s the rest of the settings I’m trying to figure out. I had a tiny bit of success with the free program “Super”. It created a 3GP that played for 1 second in my phone, 1 sec. of a 3 minute video, so I’m close, but not quite there yet. I’m off to try the software you linked to, hopefully that will do the trick. Thanks for replying!!

Hi Danny, thanks for the quick response. Yes, those settings that you mentioned are the ones I’ve tried with no luck. The audio plays fine but the video doesn’t show.
Hi Douglas, thanks for responding. So it does work? Do you remember what settings you used, and what model of Sony Ericsson? Also which version of Vegas you used to achieve your results? I ask because I really think I’ve tried everything (settings-wise). Can you elaborate on the Adobe Device Central? Is that software or a website? I googled and found this free app. https://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html I’m going to test it in a few moments, I’ll let you know if it works or not. It claims to, so I’m hoping it does.

Hi Kent, I don’t have Movie Studio Platinum 8, but if it’s anything like Vegas, it sounds like you have inadvertently created keyframes. Open up the effect in question, are there little diamond shapes at the bottom of that window, in various places on the mini timeline? If so, then you’ve created keyframes. If you want the effect to be constant, ie. not morphing over time, you have to go to the frame where you like the effect, and copy that diamond to the very first diamond in that window and delete all other keyframes. If you follow what I mean? If you want the effect to be at a certain frame and onwards, you’ll have to slice the video at that point, to the point where you want the effect to end. Or keyframe in the action “Reset to None”. Both accomplish the same task. Not all effects have the “Reset to None” option though. Like I said, I’m not certain this applies to Movie Studio, if it doesn’t, disregard this. But this sounds like what’s going on, in your situation. Hope it helps?
