Hi Guys, I know there is a high probablity that none of you have the Sony Ericsson phone, but I’ll ask in case someone knows the answer. The Sony Ericsson manual states it supports and plays .mp4’s, but I’ve tried many different settings and can’t find a format it plays. There is no mention of specific format settings at the Ericsson site, nor could their tech support help. They went as far as to say, “We don’t know exactly what codec setting you should be using”. Just on the off chance that one of you has done this successfully, I like to ask what your settings were, so I can replicate it. I’m using Sony Vegas 7.0e. My goal is to be able to play my demo reels on my phone for potential customers. Thanks in advance to anyone who leads me down the right path.

I would try the save as type, AVC/AAC (*mp4) then drop the template down and select 320 x 240 for Ipod. Hope this helps Danny Hays

I’ve gotten the 320 x 240 iPod files to play on the Ericcson? Only had one for a few days..
This is where the Adobe Device Central is just da’ bomb! Test EVERYTHING in that software.

Hi Danny, thanks for the quick response. Yes, those settings that you mentioned are the ones I’ve tried with no luck. The audio plays fine but the video doesn’t show.
Hi Douglas, thanks for responding. So it does work? Do you remember what settings you used, and what model of Sony Ericsson? Also which version of Vegas you used to achieve your results? I ask because I really think I’ve tried everything (settings-wise). Can you elaborate on the Adobe Device Central? Is that software or a website? I googled and found this free app. https://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html I’m going to test it in a few moments, I’ll let you know if it works or not. It claims to, so I’m hoping it does.

Hi Michael, thanks for the link I’ll try it. I know that the Ericsson wants 3GP’s in MP4 format, but it’s the rest of the settings I’m trying to figure out. I had a tiny bit of success with the free program “Super”. It created a 3GP that played for 1 second in my phone, 1 sec. of a 3 minute video, so I’m close, but not quite there yet. I’m off to try the software you linked to, hopefully that will do the trick. Thanks for replying!!

    Rob,
I have the Sony Ericsson Walkman 810i phone.

I tried to make an mp4 file also and failed.

Thanks for your perseverence! It would be nice to have, but for me it
hasn’t been a high need as yet.

    Larry

Let me know if you make a breakthrough!

Hi Larry, thanks for your interest, I am getting very close now! I downloaded a demo of AVS Video to Go. https://www.avs4you.com/avs-video-to-go.aspx With it, I successfully loaded a video into my Sony Ericsson W200a phone. Plays good, video quality is good and the audio quality was really good! Now the downside, the demo version leaves a watermark (Text actually, dead center in the screen.) Distracting, but I know the bought version won’t be doing that. Now for the reason I won’t be buying it. If you hit any buttons like pause or fast forward it causes the phone to lock up, to the point where nothing works, and has to be re-booted. Not to mention the screen turns off every 10 secs. Now that may be due to the folder I put it in, more testing required to determine that. I have to say the software interface is excellent, far superior to other ones I’ve downloaded and tested………with no luck. But if I can figure out these last few shortcomings I’ll be purchasing this product, ’cause it is really well designed. Back to more testing.
P.S. I’m still hoping Douglas will get back to us about that Adobe Product.
