[Herb Sevush] “[Bill Davis] “The thing is, nobody’s saying that tracks have NO advantages. . ”

    No, somebody was.”

Really? Who exactly? Sure would love to see that quote. Oddly I’ve gone through the entire thread and can’t see that anyone ever did.

[Herb Sevush] “Gaining more than you’ve lost”

So again: what have I lost? I keep forgetting. Seeing that you’re so steadfast on the subject to the point of a crusade, you must have a whole long list of things you’ve been keeping from us the whole time?

[Herb Sevush] “but to believe there are no trade-offs is just silly.”

Silly is to suggest that there are any whilst failing to actually name so much as one. I have yet to hear of any, other than mere assumptions based on personal preference/inexperience/hearsay. Not factual or technical “trade-offs” by any stretch.

But then I have no idea how anyone that doesn’t even have any practical production work experience with X to begin with can even presume that they could be the judge of losses or gains either way.

[Nick Meyers] “can i see a two-up display of multiclips while browser skimming?”

You actually have 3 display variations:

    1) JUST the viewer (which switches dynamically to show you either what you’re skimming in the timeline OR what you’re skimming in the event)

    2) The regular viewer PLUS an explicit EVENT viewer (timeline and event content only show up in the respective viewer)

    OR

    3) Viewer and ANGLE viewer. In which case the Angle Viewer shows you all the angles of your multicam (up to 16 at a time), be it while skimming/playing in the timeline or the event.

If you’re tracking it anyway, simply use the CORNER PIN tracker.

And you know that BEDROOM is one word, right? 😉 [/smartass-mode]

Have you tried the “Create Project From File” button at the bottom of the Project Browser?

Could it be that you’re simply switching to a section of the angle that has no video at that time??

You’ll want to transfer the original, unadulterated (normal speed) clip from your phone via Image Capture or the likes. Transfer it any other way (e.g. via AirDrop, Email etc.), then it is conformed to 30fps and is NOT the 120 or 240fps, whichever you used, anymore. Once you do that you can use the actual framerate, for example the way Doug suggests or simply use the retime function any way you please.

[Nick Meyers] “and the Audio will only get us so far”

Well, if there is no TC and the audio isn’t useable for sync, then X isn’t going change anything about the task at hand. But if the is ANY camera audio, then I’d give it a shot, since past clips of mine that *I* couldn’t even hardly hear the audio from, X managed to sync to the dual audio anyway. I was amazed to say the least.

You can of course easily get what you’ve done in 7 over to X with 7toX.

Then there’s always PluralEyes if all else fails. But then that relies on the same needs for syncing, too.

[Andreas Kiel] “BTW: Never copy cards using the Finder.”

Exactly. If you want to archive, use the actual archive feature and this sort of thing won’t crop up.

Nah. It clearly shouldn’t have started to begin with. 😛

[Scott Witthaus] “[Robin S. Kurz] “Certainly no one that has little to no experience actually working with X, no.”

    Bingo!”

Right? Since how would they know that e.g. clips can be optionally shown by their assigned roles in the timeline, if they actually knew what they were talking about and not just arguing without rhyme nor reason. ;))
