I use a porabrace smuggler case,its designed for carry on,you take off the eye piece and lens ofcourse.But no good for small jets as it wont fit into the overhead lockers.But for your trip it should be ok.

The UK will be the worst country for any hassles about getting gear onto the plane,that was always the case way before recent events!But you can now drive from UK to France on the car/train under the channel.Its a very easy trip.

I would very much try to avoid your gear being not allowed on at the last minute/at the gate,this can be worse than the hold! sometimes doesnt make the flight at all! and well may get chucked about more.

I believe flicker will only be from flories/sodium lights,ie ones on a cycle,but incandescent should be ok.
Yes a 1/00 shutter will deal with flories,but sodium lights can need scan,and are often an odd color.

Once you change your lights to 220v,bulbs etc I would suggest buy some travel plugs for the countries you will go to,then just put them on your lights,and chargers etc(most chargers are multi voltage now)
This saves having to change the plugs.

The good news is every where is Euro,s now,so wont have the hassle of changing currency in each place as it used to be!!

There are still many cock ups with carnets by customs staff who are useless,good idea to get your agent to show you what they must stamp,what they tear out,and what you keep.

But if 24p is not the the main issue,and interlaced is ok,wouldnt the 2/3 inch chip/higher data rate make the digibeta better,or at least a PAL one?.
For sure the 790 viewfinder is better than the XDCAM 350?

Yes it is that bad.A sony guy here in Japan told me Canon had pretty much been forced into making them for this camera.

I doubt any professional camera person will be shooting auto focus,esp when panning 😉

What you really need is a good view finder,which is a bit lacking on the XD camera,s,but still preferable to auto focus.Shame you couldnt plug an HDCAM view finder in really.

Thanks for the comments.Yes seeing the filter at a high stop/wide angle is something to check for.
