    Hi there

What is the difference between 2-3 and 2-3-3-2 pull down.Iam I right in thinking the pull down is to get 24 frames from 30?,by dropping frames between 2 and 3 frame gap.
Why would one choose between these two pull down methods.

Does DF/NDF become redundant,if not would would be recommended for broadcast.

    Thanks

    Redflag,

Drop-frame time code does not apply to 24p. If you leave the setting at DF the camera will automaticly override it.

There is NO advanced pulldown in progressive formats, only interlaced.

The difference is in the way the redundant frames are duplicated – thats what the numbers are for.

the Varicam only shoots 720p Progressive content.

There is not a provision nor a need for the advanced pulldown (2:3:3:2) with progressive content because you are not rebuilding interlaced video fields back into a progressive frame when doing a reverse telecine.

Graeme Nattress has a good article on p vs pA
