Thanks, Andy. I tried using Audition with Pr Pro CC “2013” and it kept claiming non-destructive editing but saved my sound files with new names and I couldn’t find the originals. Is this still going on?. . . I’m sticking to Pr Pro 2019 to re-edit an old project without Audition.

June 6, 2020 at 5:20 pm in reply to: Can’t Sync Settings on Premiere v14.2

    Hey Reena,
Adobe told me they don’t support anything past the last two versions.
    So maybe not Pr 14.

Their support people are really nice smart gentlemen in India but you might have to wait on the phone for an hour. I was running Pr Pro CC “2013.” The guys in India tried eally hard.

Catalina is a little weird but supports Pr Pro 2019. I’m trying to get up to speed with Resolve so I don’t have to deal with these Adobe issues anymore.

    Good luck,
    Robert

May 20, 2020 at 3:16 am in reply to: Is there paid phone support for Resolve?

    Hi Brian,
I’m guessing a lot of these NLEs are used by folks who work in a freelance or studio setting where there are other people around to bounce questions off of.

I’m working alone and it’s tough to slog through these complex softwares without support.
Premiere was just too flaky and I’m not so sure about Resolve. I would try Avid but doesn’t run on Catalina yet.

    Good luck to us all,
    Robert

May 8, 2020 at 12:36 am in reply to: How to open old PPro file

Be careful. I was able to open a CC 2013 .prproj and recover most of it. But maybe try CC 2019 instead of 2020. The latest PrP versions are notorious. If you have the older software you could try to open and export the project.

I saved a Mac running OS 10.15 to be able to open the old file with CC 2013. It kinda worked. Issues with relinking files, not unexpectedly.

A friend works with PrPro CS6 on a Windows machine.

    Good luck.

May 3, 2020 at 3:41 pm in reply to: Best method for consolidating media files

    Hi all,
Does no one have any ideas about this?

I’ll try to simplify: I have media files sometimes with odd names scattered among folders sometimes with odd names among 4 different drives. ProRes, mp4, Apple media from FCP7, audio wav files.

It has taken much time to find each file and relink to a PrP 2019 project.

What’s the best way to consolidate these and put them in one folder on one (backed up) drive?
Should I rename the files? Will I have to relink them all over again?

Yes better media management might have prevented this. But it seems like a not uncommon problem.

Project Manager produces “Unknown Error” in any mode.

    Thanks,
    Robert

    Hi Oliver,
I’d like to copy but I’ve tried both and neither one works.
One: confusion: there’s something like an “original media” setting for one of these and none of my media matches the dropdown choices.
It’s mostly ProRes with a few mp4 files.
    Thanks,
    Robert

April 29, 2020 at 9:22 pm in reply to: Moving project to Resolve

    Eric,
Here’s the latest. Some of my recovered PrP file is out of order and referencing the wrong media so I have to recut part. I worked out how to recreate the montage better.

I will probably continue in PrP for the coming next version because my XML export to Resolve 15 failed to export the titles and subtitles and I’m not as familiar with Resolve to recut and recreate.

PrP 2019 is crashing occasionally and I have to eject hard drives and restart everything — can’t use Avid on this Cataline OS yet but will use Resolve for my next project.

    I think/hope that’s my final report.
    Cheers,
    Robert

April 26, 2020 at 10:35 pm in reply to: Moving project to Resolve

    Hey Kevin,
Well, I’ve spent days and hours recovering most of a project from an old version of PrP on an old MBP. Today I’ve been able to export media and import into Resolve, unable to export aaf file, able to export an .xml file and import to Resolve. What doesn’t translate are lots of titles and subtitles from PrP. Do I dare try to work in PrP 2019 for a bit longer? Or should I purchase Avid?
    Best,
    Robert
