I can’t imagine this hasn’t already been answered, but search isn’t finding anything.

I have a project created in an older version of PPro with an extension of .ppj. It is probably from about 2004.

How do I open it in the current version of PPro 2020? Or convert, whatever?

    You can’t.
You need the older Adobe version and possibly the older OS to run it.

Be careful. I was able to open a CC 2013 .prproj and recover most of it. But maybe try CC 2019 instead of 2020. The latest PrP versions are notorious. If you have the older software you could try to open and export the project.

I saved a Mac running OS 10.15 to be able to open the old file with CC 2013. It kinda worked. Issues with relinking files, not unexpectedly.

A friend works with PrPro CS6 on a Windows machine.

    Good luck.

    .ppj is Premiere 6.
CS5 will import x.ppj projects and convert to x.prproj.
