Script Sync does work on MC 7.0.4. We have several systems and left one on this version just for scriptsync and are having no issues. Unless you need something very specific from v.8 then v.7 is pretty solid for us – might be a good compromise.

It happens on our Windows machines, as far as “syncing”. It never does anything further but never crashes the system either except occasionally when closing app after project has saved. I assumed it was because of our network/firewall. Interestingly enough, when I take a Macbook Pro home, it syncs and all is good. I’m still on Mavericks. On Avid 8.2 on everything.

DVD spec for a video DVD (as opposed to Data DVD) is mpg2 video files with Dolby AC3 or PCM audio files. If I did this correctly, here is a link to EXCEL file that will calculate your data rate needs, including any additional ROM content:

Try adding the media to a new folder “2” and after booting Avid see if it scanned the folder by looking for newly created .mdb and .pmr files.

February 4, 2015 at 8:52 pm in reply to: Avid Project Advice – 1080i or 720p

I was in favor of the progressive even if 720. I can run cams in 720p/29.97 as they loop through KiPro’s before switcher. The switcher only outputs 59.94 in 720p mode so it can deal with converting the inputs to match the output … which will work fine because we can always recut the switched using ISO’s.

    Thanks!

Try BCC Film Process (camera jitter and flicker). Could also look at New Blue Film Express and BCC Film Damage for other added effects.

  • I believe this is possible in Apple DVD Studio Pro using scripting. I believe this is advanced. Perhaps this link can explain so you can see if it is what you desire. I do not believe Encore does this.

  • If all sections you want to play (or not play) are individual video timelines OR if they have chapter markers then you can accomplish this by use of playlists. Create a playlist that shows only the 3 sections you want and link a menu button to that playlist.

Perhaps they are OP-1A MXF Files? If so, they need to be converted into OP-Atom files(Native to Avid).

December 23, 2014 at 2:58 pm in reply to: MC 8.3 – bin repair issue

Installed 8.3 on top of 8.2 – however the installer removed 8.2 anyway during installation of 8.3

The problem still existed but I did a Save Bin As (Same Name with “COPY” added to name) and it solved the problem. I could even delete the bin “COPY” and the original bin opens and saves fine.

I also noticed that it only affects bins opened and/or created with 8.2 — the bins created using 7.0.3 were not affected but I do not remember if they had been opened while on 8.2

I have a feeling it is a bug, at least with our system Win 7 PC.

Thanks for the advice in working around this!
