Thanks … didn’t know of that option.
Assume BD-RE the same as a DVD-rw. I’ll go but a pack.

John you mention DVD compliance.
This is Blu-ray not DVD.
That is why I understood .w64 would produce Blu-ray compliant uncompressed PCM.I am also unsure of whether DVD architect will allow .ac3 … manual says no, but Sony expert tips say yes.
Is there a way to create Blu-ray disc image (avoid wasting blanks)
Can then try alternative codec and see if they are re-encoded or not. -
OK … so Sony .w64 (uncompressed PCM) it is then
-
I had come across that post in my searches .. i.e. ac3 only for DVD.
If you look at links I posted, Sony state that you can use ac3
Hence my confusion.I’ll go with Sony w64 then, (uncompressed pcm) and ignore the more than 50x increase in file size 🙂

I have Movie Studio 12 .. and just rendered a whole load of 1920×1080 25fps video it is fully supported.
1080 50i is what you select and that gives you 2 identical frames, look at the pic attached … it is the 1080 50i template … under frame rate it is set to 25fps.
In my case I modified bit rate as I only wanted 20Mbps average.

Further details:
I have had over 80% failure ……… and some that failed on 3 or 4th attempt they did complete. Which confirms to me this is not a project file/media corruption issue.GPU is ‘enabled’ under preferences, but no option to turn on (so presumed off) for MainConcept MPEG-2 template.
The graphics card was purchased specifically to provide CUDA support, it is a supported card and also there should be no OpenCL use as it’s CUDA.The card works fine with other programs … and is identified correctly and accepted by Movie Studio.
Have installed latest NVIDIA driver and video bios, and after seeing one post response uninstalled Quicktime. This did significantly reduced frequency of failuresThe only 100% way to complete renders is by turning off GPU acceleration in Movie Studio preferences.
However I specifically purchased this Movie Studio upgrade to get GPU support
Plus the card Geoforce NVIDIA 5600GTX is a supported card by Sony, and is recognised by Movie Studio. -
Mike … when I replied “Yes it is …. thought it was so obvious a function.”
I meant that in repose to your answer … seems to have arrived out of sequence … it worked Thank you

I use Lagarith when moving between video programs as it is lossless … i.e Virtual dub output.
In this instance it will only be a 60 sec sample ……… have been given a good tip.. about creating a known length sample of your program … create lossless render and put this into handbrake, then it will give you the optimum bitrate setting for your project.
Steps are:
export one minute as lossless, then use Handbrake using constant quality , choose 18 or better 17. Provides certain file size – for example 60MB.
60MB/60s=1MB/s
1MB/s *8000 = 8000kbps= which would be 8000000 average bitrate for that 2pass settings you’d put in Vegas.
That value in bold after calculation is the bitrate that you need. Not tried it yet – but thought it might be worth trying this.

I assume I can base pixel aspect & Field order from a known working version …………. I’ll give it a go.
Thanks.
