Yeah that sort of editing to tape just never really worked.
Sorry.
We have an old Discreet system on hand that we use for those sorts of jobs all the time. Rock solid frame accurate goodness.

March 23, 2006 at 6:10 pm in reply to: Field dominance when bumping DV sequence to UncompressedI think the problem is less a field order issue and a slight upconvert issue.
Remember DV is 720×480 and most SD cards expect a slightly different aspect ratio that translates to 720×486.
FCP will do a little conversion that looks fine most of the time but will yeild problems with some high motion and Livetype/Motion projects. That happened to me this weekend. A timeline I was working in was DV but my livetype projects were coming in from a SD template. Wierd field artifacting that went away when everything was resaved as ‘dv’.
Maybe that’s the problem or a step in the right direction.

What you are describing sounds mutually exclusive but I know what you’re after. 🙂
A common Inferno and AE trick for noise reduction is to blur just the blue channel.
There is also an app Virtual Dub for PC that has an interesting filter I’ve seen before and after shots of but not used myself.
In FCP there is a free ‘too much too soon’ filter called noise reduction but I’ve tried it on a couple of clips and not noticed a difference, but that may be user error on my part.

Option TAB is good if you have a Finder window already open.
Expose is good if you have a Finder window already open …. unless there is a way to assign a key or screen corner to open up a Finder window.. 🙂 Anyone?
Otherwise I’d like a guaranteed way to get a Finder window opened up from FCP like (windows) E. I don’t there there is one.. 🙁

I did upgrade to Pro on my home (ipod) computer and noticed a strange thing. On the site it says, the $29 pro upgrade is promoted with a “why, that

Can it be done? Yes.
Without a moving camera though you are going to be driving yourself insane. AE or I prefer Combustion is good for this sort of thing: anything with a moving 3D camera or object I go Combustion for some reason.

Oh I agree JKL is the bomb. But I’m working on some tricky vis and want to play it at half or even quarter speed and drop I and O points. It’s a unique gig, not something I do every day.
Is there a JLK type keyboard shortcut for slowmo that allows for me to press I and O on the fly?

Here it is:

Looking closer at the specs at the bottom of that link it looks like you can export a file directly from Vegas to an MP4 file that should work. My new ipod is on the way, I’ll report when I get it. 🙂
