Hi Warren. I just bought the Ikan D7W at NAB. Beautiful image, waveform and vectorscope. You might still be able to get an NAB discount.

I would only transcode to ProRes if your NLE requires it (FCP). Premiere will take the 5D files natively. Transcoding will not increase your ability to pull a clean key. To benefit from ProRes, the footage would have to have been recorded directly to this codec.
Ultra Key in Premiere and Keylight in After Effects will both give you great green screen results.Good luck,

16 or 32 bit actually looked like it created more banding. I’ll give the grain a try.

The 5DM3 keys very well. Definitely use the All-I codec. Ditto on good lighting.

You should also consider getting the Juiced Link Riggy. Super clean audio and allows you to record directly to the DSLR. No need for dual system sound.

Unfortunately, the SD output is pretty bad. The HD output is good though.

I haven’t used it yet as a two camera set up. I got it for times when I wanted to achieve a more filmic look.
