Answer to your question as to why a 1.5 hr project wont fit on a DVD…

The dispay I got from DVDA when I dropped the original project in was 4.9GB. Funny thing is when I look at the properties of the file it says its 2.3GB. Any idea why that would be?

The original project was a combined audio/video MPEG when I dropped it in. I tried to drop them in as seperate files but they were out of sync, so I went back to my old method of an AUD/VID MPEG2. This was my first attempt at dropping them in as seperate files so maybe I did something wrong.

I geuess I should have invested in your Authoring training series as well as the Editing series!

    Thanks

    Thank you both…
When I go to author it (using DVD Architect) the project will require more than 1 disc. Will the software promt me to break up the project in some way? Can I have separate menus for each disc? Anything to watch out for?

    Thanks

Thanks for the advice Dave. I wasnt even aware of the “sequence” preferences, so very helpful. I was focussed on the project preferences. Not clear on the difference or the relationship but I’ll ask over in the FCP forum.

Re the chromakey shoot, my subject moves very little (and he has good keying hair!) so I got away with it this time. However I take your point and if I need to do it again, I’ll likely rent something that records in a 4:2:2 format which I understand is better for keying.

well, I think I’ve tried everything. I removed the background so I’m only now only dealing with the squeezed 16:9 media. I’ve tried virtually every combination of relevant project preferences and render options including ticking/not ticking the letterboxing box and still it doesnt look right in Windows Media player. The subject looks perfect in the vegas preview pane and thats whats keeping me sane. No solution so far has looked as right as that does. If anyone has any ideas I would be greatful.

    Thanks

I havent tried rendering the background as a 16:9 and then importing it into the veg file.

    Maybe thats the solution?

I like this background and it happens to be 4:3. Frankly, I dont have any 16:9 backgrounds.

Thanks for your reply… does it capture to tape first and then to the software? The main reason I ask is that I’m looking for a tapeless solution where I can record straight for 7 -8 hrs or more without changing the tape.

thanks Gary, by the way I own your Vegas 6 video set and I learn 100 things everytime I pop in a disc. I really appreciate your approach to teaching.
