I’ve recently done a chroma key shoot and in my output to .avi I’m getting some distortion in my subject. I shoot with a dvx100b (new to this camera) and I shot the subject in squeeze mode. I have put him against a 4:3 video background and when I render as an .avi, he looks squished in 4:3 and stretched in 16:9, depending on the project properties or render options I choose.

Is this a cropping problem? Any advice would be very helpful.

    Thanks
    Rick

    “I have put him against a 4:3 video background”…

Why? If it’s a 16:9 project, I’d make sure every media asset matched that setting.

I like this background and it happens to be 4:3. Frankly, I dont have any 16:9 backgrounds.

I havent tried rendering the background as a 16:9 and then importing it into the veg file.

    Maybe thats the solution?

well, I think I’ve tried everything. I removed the background so I’m only now only dealing with the squeezed 16:9 media. I’ve tried virtually every combination of relevant project preferences and render options including ticking/not ticking the letterboxing box and still it doesnt look right in Windows Media player. The subject looks perfect in the vegas preview pane and thats whats keeping me sane. No solution so far has looked as right as that does. If anyone has any ideas I would be greatful.

    Thanks
