its been awhile but if I recall, I didnt get an answer that solved the problem so I ended up editing out the speeded video and matching the audio manually with the remainder of the movie. Grueling and mickey mouse but it was the only option left.

Yes Jim, in the log and transfer window, go to the preferences pull down menu and check the box called “remove advanced pulldown and duplicate frames”. That should do it.

    Cheers

I just finished converting 40 hrs of PAL footage from VOBs to MPEG4s using MPEG Streamclip. Of the 25 discs, 10 fell out of sync. Unusual issue though, the sync problem happens all at once as the video appears to fast forward for a couple of seconds in what appears to be a random point in time in each movie and then behold, out of sync for the rest of the movie. Any one encountered this one before????

    thx

Thanks for that very useful way of defining the difference between 8 bit and 10 bit. I;ve always struggled with the specifics that define the difference between the two. I knew 10 bit was richer but I didnt know in what way exactly.

Thanks for the good advice Jeremy. But does it make sense that when I uncheck the “remove advanced pulldown and duplicate frames” box that the duplicate frames are removed? Thats what is happening. Either way, I have it now and thanks for clearing up the “no penalty” for shooting 30pN thing. I wasn’t sure if there were shortcomings to to that format vs 30p.

if I said capture, I meant transfer. I am using the log and transfer function but I’m getting duplicate frames under the 30p setting after transfer. I’ve heard from Shane that there is no pulldown for this in FCP, so what is the proper workflow for transferring 30p (vs 30pN)?

    thx
