Hey Shane….really surprised you haven’t formed an S-Corp for yourself yet. Most of the fear of starting an S-Corp is that you aren’t sure if this whole career path is going to work out for you, but you have been around for a while, so ’nuff said.
Become an S-Corp. It is just a teenie weenie harder than forming an LLC but with much greater tax advantages….but most important, you can bill clients and they don’t need to issue you 1099’s at the end of the year.
In Wisconsin even LLC’s have to have 1099’s issued to them.
Go for it…in 5 years you will be telling newbies on the COW how easy it was and what a great decision it was.

To address Chris’s comments on DG and Extreme Reach, the problem we have encountered with direct FTP delivery is that they all have different specs. Some are 5 seconds of slate, 2 seconds black then spot, and others are no black or slate, just the spot. Some want the filename to be very specific with date and title etc in them.
What’s nice about DG is that I only need to encode one file and send it to many stations. This is actually much less work than using the direct via FTP method. Preparing 4 different timelines and then encoding four different files and then naming each one differently, keep track of them all and upload to four different FTP sites, then track with the station that they got them and that they play on their server….bah humbug…
DG Fastchannel for me.
To address Stu, most of my stations will take H264 direct as well…find out if they will too. Much easier.

I would actually try MPEG Streamclip. It can export AVI movies and you can choose 640 x 480 as a default size. And it’s free.

Make sure “Render All” is checked and try rendering it and see if that does anything. Also is your playback setting on highest quality or is it dynamic?

I wish Adobe would have a simple export function that could go around the Media Encoder. Something that would export right off the timeline to whatever codec you are editing with. Going out to the Media Encoder can be hit or miss, but jumping to Animation then export that out of QT Player to DVCProHD seems like the solution here.

Sounds like a potential sync issue. We have seen this when a Kona card wasn’t getting proper sync or when the control panel popped back into free run in the control settings for sync.
