I have found that FLV vs MP4 the FLV is never as good at the same bitrate. I think a standalone encoder like Episode or Squeeze can get you consistent results. I know the Encoder comes with the Adobe package, but it’s not a comprehensive encoder either.

I love the underwater footage. I’ve seen a ton of underwater surfing, but the shallow water and dog legs is something very new.

I don’t get a sense of story. Who are the dogs. Is there a purpose to this? Is it just weekend fun? Didn’t thing the “dream sequence” really worked, going between the sleeping dog and the footage. Maybe slo mo the footage that the dog is dreaming about.

Still the light and flow of the water in the shallows and some of those dog shots looking up as they swim over is really unique. You have that going for you, now make it a story that I can understand. Introduce the dogs to me…show me how their character is different things like that.

Love that footage.

The easiest thing to do is export a ProRes file right off the timeline of FCP into Toast 10 and burn the BluRay disc…..you can even use regular DVd media for up to 30 minutes of material. But, you must have a BluRay burner to make the master.

Use Toast…it is a literal snap.

One more question….it looks like the LACP uses 2 ethernet ports to aggregate them for higher bandwidth. I am just trying to use the 2 Ethernet ports we have in our machines and use one for internet access (uploading and downloading files, email etc) and the other only for in-house file transfers, editing between machines etc on the other port. I don’t think this requires an LACP setup, but rather just requires two switches and a little setup.

That sound about correct?

Actually we are all 10.5.8….Leopard? Right, Leopard.

So you would agree that there would be a bandwith improvement enough to justify the setup (not that it is complicated, just doubles the network wired coming off the machines and a little hardware.)

As you stated it took more than 8 hours to do less than half the upload…and you can run into errors. Sending files on a drive is the most reliable method and they can have the files before 10:00 the next morning.

15 gigs? I would have Fedexed a hard drive with a return label in the box and charged them about $50 to do the transfer. Would have taken about 10 minutes to copy to the drive, another 5 to create the labels and maybe 5 more to box it up. If I had done any post for them (like a $2000 post only job) I might not charge anything.

I would not have uploaded the files….not 15 gigs. For the reasons you are discovering.

Also WMV is actually optimized for 1280 x 720 frame size. Anything above that and I have had mixed results. 1280 always plays and looks great.

ProRes or H264 is better at this frame size.

Must encode to 1280 x 720 WMV at about 3000 kbps….should play and look great. If you want an H264/Quicktime solution Keynote on the Mac is the best video player. Smooth transitions between slides and movies.

But for now get your HDV to WMV at 1280 x 720 and you’ll be fine.
