I think programs like Shake and flame are much better at doing that kind of compositing. It was a fabulous open and I liked the overall look to the graphics, but I also liked the stage production and design.
It worked for me.

I also have the MPEG 2 export option in FCP5 with QT7.0.2. But i think the reason I still have it is that I hid my 6.5 Quicktime app when i installed QT7 and then dropped it back in the apps folder afterwords. Not sure if this is why I still have it, but I prefer it over doing the compressor route.
I have not been able to fix my Batch Monitor. Compressor is fine, but as soon as I submit the batch the batch window is empty but the batch is actually encoding. There is no way for me to see what is happening. I have even reinstalled the entire Pro Studio package and it didn’t fix it. Compressor is useless to me and I loathe the interface. I believe too many users defend the app, but it is one that I wish Apple would rewrite…
So for now I enjoy exporting straight to MPEG 2 from the timeline, but not everybody has it…and I don’t exactly know why I have it!

I had a plan like the Assurant one noted above, but it wasn’t working for me…I found I paid for everything anyway. I investigated further and discovered that Blue Cross Wisconsin had reasonable monthly rates with lower deductibles, and I got a dental rider. The best news is that they actually pay for some things. They pay 80% of my dental visits, they pay sometimes all of my kids regular checkups and immunizations. They even cover some of the basic meds…pennicillin etc.
So I have been very happy and feel my health care is taken care of. They are a recognizable name and I have had no problems.
With the old plan, like the Assurant one, I was paying for everything, no one knew who they were, even Walgreens stumbled when I gave them my card…which was no good anyway so I paid for everything.
If you have a Blue Cross Blue Shield in your state look them up on the web and fill out the application.

I do know of a producer in a small production company that is using Entourage pretty successfully. I am going to meet with him to pick his brain on any limitations and how it works with multiple users. I feel like it is enough for my small company as well…anyone else out there giving Entourage a run for its money?
Might ask on the Microsoft discussion groups…since it is cross platform they get a lot of posts over there.

Actually, with your original idea of exporting to Animation 720 x 480, that will be fine. Make sure the compositor works in a 720 x 480 NTSC comp. Also be sure they render to lower fields.
Everything will be fine. You don’t have to go to 720 x 486, and definately don’t squeeze it down to 640 x 480.
I think your first hunch is correct. We work in squished images in AE all the time…no biggie.

Didn’t Avid just buy Medea? Not a biggie, but not sure how that will affect the long term support that Medea owners have enjoyed. Avid has a way with absorbing companies…then burying them in their corporate web.
Love Medea’s products however.

It was not a particle generator at all. They keyframed each and every circle’s motion, blur and opacity level. That is the only way you can really get that nice fluid, organic look.
That’s my guess.
