Perhaps different here in Wisconsin….1099 is REQUIRED for LLC’s in Wisconsin.

Wow, that sounds vague. It is possible to play back MPEG-2 from a CD-R
OM disc, but I might ask exactly how they want to view the clips. The statement you quoted sounds like someone who doesn’t know compression wrote it.

First go buy the book “Inc Yourself” it’s on Amazon.

Another good reason to incorporate is that the paperwork between two corporations is the simplest if most of your clients are themselves, corporations. With an LLC, any work that you bill to a corporate client will require that corporation to issue you a 1099 form at the end of the year. Many corporations prefer to pay another corporation and not an LLC for this reason (there is cost involved in generating the 1099, and a paper trail)….if you are a corporation, the books are cleaner and your corporation is completely liable for paying the taxes….the corporation you bill holds no liability. Since most of my clients are corporations, they prefer this.

An LLC is a little simpler to establish, but being an S-Corp has proven to have advantages to my clients that they prefer.

There are also tax benefits to me as the owner and only shareholder that your accountant, and the book “Inc Yourself” will explain.

Ok, saw the file…interesting. The bit rate is lower than the NASA clip. I did see a skipping as you describe when I viewed the clip on the web site (it was fully downloaded when I viewed it), but when I played it after copying to the desktop it was perfect. Are you talking about playback off the web after loading or playback off the desktop?

I wonder if it is a streaming server issue….I cannot see, at least at first glance why the files would playback differently, except to say that the last movie you put up skipped exactly as you described ONLY when I played it in the Safari browser…..off the desktop it was perfect.

This time I get the “The person who sent you this is using the free version of YouSendIt and if they send files over 20 megs you must register to use the site.”

Sorry…I may sign up someday, but not today. If you plan to use YouSendIt a lot in the future, go for a pay version and we won’t have to register each time. Sorry to be a pain. I’d love to see the clip and see what’s going on.

Is it an HDV camcorder? Did you record HDV? If so you must tell the camera to downconvert to DV in order to capture DV via Firewire. If you WANT to upload HDV from the camcorder then the camcorer must be set that way, and you must use an easy setup for HDV for this to work.

  • It is also possible that your tape was recorded on a JVC camcorder and cannot output video and audio. this is a known issue. If the JVC was an older camera and they used the 24P pro setting there is a good chance you will need to get the camera to upload.

We had this happen with our M25U deck prior to getting the Convergent designs box.

The M25U is able to output some of these formats ONLY out its HDMI port, which is why the Convergent designs box is useful here. It converts the HDMI output to SDI with embedded audio.

You could set the buffer to a longer duration. Also, CBR will typically download more consistently. Or get a faster connecton on the users side!
