Hi, i hope someone can help me here.

When i go to file>Log and Capture i get the capture window pop up. When i hit play my camera starts to play (Canon GL2) But the preview says “preview disabled” so i go to capture video to see what happens and then i get an error saying: “This operation could not be completed as there is no video.” Im like ok……….. I have already did the “easy setup” And its set to DV firewire. Is there any other suggestions someone could give me to try? Thanks in advance for your help.

    Matt,

It would be good to provide more information so that someone could help you. You don’t have any information filled out in your profile and nobody knows what kind of equipment or what software versions you’re using. I’d suggest making a list of what you have, and a list of exactly what you are doing and with what settings. Are you ever seeing video from the camera?

Sorry, I have a MacBook Pro 2.16 and 1gb of ram, and im using FCP 5. My camera is a GL2 and im using DV. Yes i see a picture on the actual camera, just in FCP the preview window says “preview disabled” and it wont capture any video. I can control the camera using FCP, like play, stop, fast forward, actions like that. I just dont know why FCP isnt showing the video.

Thanks again for any help. Please let me know if you still need more info.

Is it an HDV camcorder? Did you record HDV? If so you must tell the camera to downconvert to DV in order to capture DV via Firewire. If you WANT to upload HDV from the camcorder then the camcorer must be set that way, and you must use an easy setup for HDV for this to work.
