Using time of day can cause repeated timecode on clips from the same camera over a two or three day shoot. In these instances we had the cameras all start with a unique hour start time. 1 hour, 2 hour, 3 hour etc….and we’d increment the hour start time throughout the shoot. I had this same problem, except odd things like my forward space key did not advance the timeline marker forward…only back worked! Also some of my keyboard shortcuts just stopped working. The new Mac Studio is an interesting option. $4000 gets a pretty solid upgrade from an iMac Pro and probably 5-8 years of solid use. $500 a year for a rocking machine isn’t bad!

The latest iTunes update breaks a lot of things…seems to be Apple’s MO lately. Used to be able to link iTunes songs in Spotify but that got broken. Apple trying to protect Apple. Not looking out for you.

I see…didn’t see that it was Windows on CS6. Still my point still applies. Export whatever codec you have been using in your sequence Preview setting and after you render the sequence make sure you match that setting on export. BAM probably about 2 minutes to export.

Then encode that clip to whatever other formats and sizes you want. Waaaaay…

V22 of Premier won’t install on my iMac Pro because they require an i7 or M1 chip. WHAT? so my iMac Pro isn’t Pro enough for Adobe? End of life? I get maybe operating system but what friggin chip is in the computer. Cmon Adobe….I posted but I’m probably talking to the wind.

I’m finding I have to watch colors like a hawk these days with OS updates and CC updates. It depends on the app, but the worst is when Media Encoder looks completely different from the record window! I have an HP Dreamcolor that is calibrated and I trust it, but when the same clip looks different in four different places it scares me!

But of course. Only thing I haven’t done is uninstall all versions and reinstall. Lots of plugins etc to manage once I get it all reinstalled.

Found this Youtube video and for now it has solved the color shifting when I view my Premier Record window and an exported proRes off the sequence in Quicktime player.

Worth a look.

I have CC 2018, CC 2019, CC 2020 on an iMac Pro. Morph Cut crashes the app every single time it is added to a sequence. I have Mohave on the iMac Pro, but I also have a souped up MacPro 2009 running High Sierra with the same apps and it also crashes now. It is dead on all my systems. Anyone have a fix?

What I do is set my sequence to ProRes 422. When I export it, I match the sequence so I am exporting a ProRes 422. I choose “Use Previews” and assuming the sequence is rendered it might only take a few minutes to export the whole thing. I then use the ProRes 422 in Media encoder to make my h264.

Have you used “Add Frame Hold”? It creates a still frame that can be stretched to any length. Use it all the time.

I stopped trusting Lumetri several years ago when a few of us had a similar conversation. I went entirely with Red Giant’s Colorista. Works great. Since everyone is using the Adobe Suite we have no choice really, except to invest in third party software….but that is challenging if I have to exchange a project with others and they don’t use Colorista!

Who is your business bank? That is your first stop…they should help you thru the application process. I use US Bank and they have been great….been with them since 2001 and always felt like they had my back, as much as the local banks threw shade at the “big banks”. Too bad, it works for me!

Also Super stands for superimposed…so it is a graphic or other element that is put over another shot. Lower third typically means a name title and is also sometimes called Name Super to be more specific. Could also be called a Keyable Graphic.

Or make a new project and import the sequences you need using Media Browser from the other project.

I tried both of these things. Still the mask goes whacky after a few keyframes are added. Absolutely befuddling. I figured nesting would work….nope. Then I exported the clip running at 90% and brought it back in….nope, either the clip drifts between layers, or the mask literally renders in a different spot than where it is drawn!

I have a clip with 90% speed. I have Lumetri and a Levels filter on the clip….it is V1. I copied the clip and put it above and added a mask and adjusted Lumetri for the masked area. So far so good. I used to love a feature in Avid where you could open a bin full of clips and select all or a group of clips and simply hit Command-I and it would give the total running time. Very cool. Avid’s database back end and the way it understood timecode was very impressive. Not helpful for this post however!
