I don’t understand what you mean by NLE?

There is (as far as I can tell) no way to change loop in and out points in AE short of cutting each clip being looped to different lengths, this would take hours of work to simply replicate what is a very very basic function (moving a loop point) the footage does not speed up at all, the loops simply become shorter or longer or move to different sections of the clip, when I say it’s almost impossible to do this in AE thats true.

I’m pretty shocked that considering this is such a basic fundamental of edditing that it’s not addressed in AE or even by any third party pluggins. If it were a case of the footage simply needing to be sped up or slowed down then AE could do that, but this isn’t the same thing.

It’d be pretty much impossible to do all those eddit’s manually firstly there’s probably 50 or 100 cuts, secondly a big part of the effect is the audio, as the loop point’s move closer together the pitch of the audio also (appears) to change though the footage doesn’t speed up.

It seems my only option is to create a rough as above then to import it in to AE to replaice dropped frames that there are. I had a look over the glitch plugin that you sugested and it does have time remapping so I’ll give it a shot, it sounds pretty intersting.

Don’t know if the audio is playing ion the youtube vid so here’s the same vid a’la vimeo

    lights from ni-cad on Vimeo.

Guy’s I really really would like to find a way to do this in AE as I use this technique a lot in music production, now I’m working with visuals as well I was looking forward to achieving the same effect using footage from the samples I use.

If any of you can help or have any more suggestions I’d be really greatfull.

Oh guy’s thanks, I had no idea 😀

This is going to make my job a lot easier, I should have learned not to underestimate AE by now, but I always do, I feel like such an arse lol.

Cheers, going to try out all your sugestions now.

I’ll narrow it down and try and crack it.

It’s probably the file size that has to match, seems to only be happening with Zwrks 3D warps.

    No probs.

Load your new footage in to the comp, (hold Alt – drag and drop) on to your chosen layer, this will replace the layers footage with your new footage whilst leaving your effects intact.

EDD: Some of the old Free Frame effects are pretty Puzzel like. .

You’ll need to use “Petes – After effects host for free frame plugins” to use the old FF stuff, it’s a bit hit and mis but when it works it really works well 🙂 You’ll find it here plus a load of free effects that can also be used in AE.

Playback wouldn’t even start, but I figured out what the problem was, it was my memory and cache settings.

    Thanks for the tip though.

Cool, thanks you guy’s, yeah I like using Quicktime and Avid meridian uncompressed a lot, it’s a great codec and it renders Alpha channels as well, ;D

    Great advice everyone!!!

I hear that, I’ve had nothing but griief from them, there are a load of my m2ts movies that After effects won’t even open (probably a hdcp issue) though.

I’d be glad to convert them to a different format, I’ll try rendering them as something like Quicktime or AVI, but won’t that increase the file sizes a great deal?

Thanks for the tips 😉 I’ll experiment a bit and see where it get’s me.

So I’d need to re-render the m2ts movie files back to m2ts only using a different codec? Or would you sugest re-rendering the m2ts to a completly different filetype like AVI?

I’m still a little confused here as to what exactly you guys mean, if you mean I need to re-render to m2ts with a different codec What kind of codec would you recomend I use?

Sorry I havn’t used m2ts for long, or ever rendered an m2ts movie, I have a HDBlu-ray codec, but it doesn’t appear to be lossless.
