  • One your footage is transcoded to MXF via AMA, you do your offline, is there a separate AMA based batch import feature?

[Shane Ross] “That seems like a recipe for disaster.”

I agree. I was confused in my interview when they said they need the AAF at 29.97, in that I know I’ve given OMFs to mix houses based on 23.976 media. If it weren’t the twelfth season of a long running show I wouldn’t question it.

[Michael Phillips] ” Which system created the ALE files? What was the master file format to begin with before transcoding to DNXHD 36?”

35mm (4 perf and 3 perf) scanned to DPX files, then converted to DNX36. Not sure what system is being used to scan.

My main concern was that running consolidate would lock up the bay, where is if I could do it at the finder level, I could conceivably still work while it copies. That said, I didn’t want to screw with Avid’s system for managing MXF media in it’s numbered folders.

Also, I don’t think the frame rate of the AAF matters. 48KHz Audio is 48KHz audio, no matter the master TC counter you run.”

    That’s what I thought.

You really should check with them how they want it. You could use the media manager to make a Final Cut sequence with handles. You could export it as a self contained quicktime and notch it yourself. They might just want an edl and reconstitute the project from the tape masters. It really depends on what system they’re using, and their preferred workflow.

  • Compressor 4 is not 64 bit. While you have it open, also open activity monitor. I was disappointed by that discovery.

  • Let me rephrase “filters”

  • I’m going to make a large sequence, filled with a ton of clips and plugins in the hopes of making an obnoxiously large project file. I’m interested to see how large, in a 64-bit environment, a project file can get before it gets unstable.

The 7D is tapeless, and HF-S20 shoots to SD cards, correct? Log and Capture is for tape, Log and Transfer is for Tapeless.

You must be in “Log and Capture” as opposed to “Log and Transfer” Shift CMD 8 (not CMD 8)
