I’m about a start a project that is going to be cut at 23.976 but I need to provide an AAF to the mixing house at 29.97. I was told I could adjust it when I export the AAF, however the only conversion options I see are audio sample rate, audio bit depth, and audio file format. I tested this on my system running Media Composer 5.0.3 but they’re using MC 3.

Is the AAF going to be used to link to the audio files? Of so, that should be 23.976 as that is what the edit was done at. Perhaps they are asking for a 29.97 video file for reference?

Also, I don’t think the frame rate of the AAF matters. 48KHz Audio is 48KHz audio, no matter the master TC counter you run.

    That’s what I thought.

The request for a QuickTime as 29.97 is more common as they use an I/O card to a monitor that only supports NTSC type output. If a computer monitor is used in a full screen configuration, then you are better off having the picture reference the same rate as audio edits in file (23.976) to ensure frame for frame accurate sound to pix editing.

And even boxes like the Canopus ones can play back 23.97 as 29.97, AFAIK. So maybe they’re asking for something they don’t need.
