Do you have a tape with the incorrect playback frequency loaded in the deck? I once had a network reject a tape noting a red channel condition, the tape was 23.976, but if it was loaded into the deck with the playback frequency set to 59.94, it would report a red channel condition.

Are you capturing from a D5 deck, or are you doing a playback to D5?

Give us details about your system? Are you daisy chaining several hard drives and the camera on one firewire bus? That could do it. Are your hard drives very full? Are you capturing to your system drive?

To add to that, even if Final Cut can render it realtime, it will show up as green, as opposed to red. Anything that is completely unaffected will have the regular grey of the bar above it.

Being that it’s made by Nexidia, how does it compare to Avid’s script sync? I like script sync, and found as an AE that it is decently accurate, but still did require quite a lot of manual labor on the AE’s part to make sure it lined up to the script properly (especially on reality shows, where you have children who mumble).

How does it stand up when you have a clip that might have ambient audio issues, or people who mumble or stutter?

You might try going to Alpha Dogs in Burbank and using their Digital Service Station as an option. alphadogs.tv Give em’ a call, setup an appointment and bring a hard drive with your video as a self contained quicktime. They’re great.

Granted you’ve already start shooting, so it’s probably a little to modify your production workflow, but I’d highly recommend using animation specific software for your stop-motion piece.

Dragon Stop Motion is not terribly expensive https://www.dragonstopmotion.com/

Robot Chicken among other great stop motion productions use it. What’s nice about it also, is that will kick out your stills as quicktimes (and it will compensate whether you shot at 1s or 2s), plus you’ll still have access the raw images, in the event that you want to, say, bring the image sequences into After Effects for zooms, or rig removal.

I’ve seen this before, and it’s irritating as all hell. What I did to remedy this is, merge the isolated clip to your master. Then take that merged clip and use it to make your group clip. Roundabout, but it worked for me.
