Make sure you are not watching an External monitor (like the deck or camera) while having speakers plugged in.
Make sure you weren’t getting dropped frames on capture.
I use that camera all the time with no issues… so it should be an easy fix

Your machine does not match the recommended specs for HD
At least try adding more RAM…. also drive speed may be an issue here
But yes… you are trying to jump a bus riding a mini scooter

HDV is VERY processor intensive….
That and a second monitor into an iMac is not a solution except on the newest mchines…
By the time you pimp out an imac with high end graphics… add teh second mnitor…

Strange to post that question here…
F is Match Frame to lad a clip from timeline to the viewer
Shift F will reveal the clip in your bin from what is loaded in viewer (provided its in your project.) -
They are not formatted for HD.. they are coming in at teh size you set them…
if you put them in an HD seqience.. FCP may be adjusting the distort setting to match your sequence Pixel Aspect Ratio.
Sugggest a visit to PhotoshopforVideo.com to download some QuickTime moveis and handuts.. as well as a throurough read of any of my PS Video books when you get the time

16:9 material on the XL2 is still 720X480….
The 16:9 process is handled by on-screen simulation or the hardware player.
If compressing to MPEG 2 for DVD… choose Widescreen preset so widescreen flag is applies and player shows correctly.
If going to the web.. you need to change your output size
720 X 1.2 (the widescreen Pixel Aspect Ratio is 860_
So
860 X 480
430 X 240etc

If you don’t need all of the tracks and editability… I would go with just AIFF files per track… if not then OMFI may work best

You can always make a new sequence that has the DVCAM settings….
Then paste your sequence content in and re-render
