What is the best computer for FCP editing, a Mac Pro, an iMac or a G5?

G5 discontinued…. iMac you can’t expand or hook up your two monitors (depending on connection types you may need adapters)

Does anyone have any suggestions for an optimum set-up, for example the maximum number of hard drives, any additional graphics cards, as well as any other PCI cards that might be needed to edit HD?

WAY too many variables….. new towers hold four drives…. easy to install or get external… as far as HD.. which one of the 35 flavors?

Where is the best place to purchase a new machine?

Your question is not very clear… but be careful when you drag (there is a dividing line) One overwrites one inserts…. also you need to learn about patch panel (track lights)

BUT… it sounds like you’d REALLY beneift from a starter book with practice media

You ay have subclipped the media.. but it still points to the riginal (HUGE) file.

You can use the Media Manager ot Batch Exort command to make those clips independant

You Need to crate a new project… and tell it to either move or copy the media…

Easier to go to a new drive.. then delete old media
