Yes, thanks all, problem fixed. Making it fit the window is what it wanted.
But here’s the bizzare thing, I’ve been cutting on FCP for a month now…how on earth did that setting suddenly get changed?????????
Weird.
I’m not trying to knock FCP, it has some features that are better than Premiere, no doubt about that. I need to write a program that contains the best of what I like about Premiere and FCP 🙂

No offense taken. I don’t have time to take training as I need to get this project done ASAP. It’s a cuts only project so I, and FCP, should be able to handle it. Also, no idea where I would find training in southern Ontario. If I could cut this project in Premiere I would have it half done by now, I’m a whiz with Premiere. If there’s a FCP expert in S. Ontario who wants to sit with me for a day, please do. You will be well paid for your time.
Also, if this forum is any indication, FCP give a lot of people a pain in the neck.
In any event my viewer stil won’t play the video properly, even when I re-start a new project 🙁

Yes I need to hide it. The VTC is over the black area at the bottom of frame from SD dubs made from a HD master. I need to cut a web trailer from the footage and I want to cover the TC numbers. Plus I have to LTR box the animated title I built so it all looks consistant.
But how to do it???????? That is the question??????

I need to where exactly these options are you refer to.

So there should be no need to hide it.
Or are you referring to burned in timecode on screen as in visible timecode?
Is the material a window dub or footage that contains timecode reference? Why the need to hide it are you using it for an offline and later will replace with the original source material?

Good news, I figured how to make that flex file work that comes from the post house. It has to go in, then out of Cinema Tools, then into FCP as a Batch List. Then FCP is happy to import the footage based on the list.
Still no luck getting FCP to export minus the music track 🙁 When the music track is on the time line it says “writing audio” before printing to tape and it works. Minus the audio track it just goes right to printing and doesn’t give me that message, then it aborts the printing.
I tried re-saving the time line minus the music, same deal. Is there a way to make FCP, “write the audio?” I tried Render All, no effect.
Of course I found a half assed work around, I just started my deck in record and played the time line. It worked. But it should do it the proper way, right?

Yeah I had to put extra support beams under my house so the manuals don’t crash through the floor. They are longer than the tax code 🙁

Ok sounds great thanks. Ahhh since I’m new to FCP can you give me more of a step-by-step for this?
I have the video on the time line and the audio in the viewer. What do I do next exactly?
How do I access this “aux code” for the audio file? What is the menu and what do I select in the menu?
Where is the merge clips command? Is that the command “L”?

R,[Sean Lander] “If you have timecoded slates you can punch the timecode you see on the screen into an aux code for the audio file.
Or if you don’t care about the timecode field you can put it in there. Then joining the audio clip to the video will be a snap. Just use the “merge clips” command and select either Timecode or AUX TImecode whichever suites you best.” -
No I’m not using another NLE, I’m auto assembling in a HDSR to HDSR suite.
That’s just the first hurdle, the second is getting the 35mm 24fps HDSR footage, to magically assemble from a list being built with 29.97 DVCAM downconverts. Yes I know about Cine Tools, but there seems to be 20 different ways of using it for this process. I have to find one that works for me.
