What’s the model number and price of this Philips unit?

Correction: Vidcom in Vancouver sells the basic kit for $5800.00CND which is about $5275.00 USD. That’s a little more fair than the $7000.00 tag I’ve seen posted on Canadian web sites.

Oops, didn’t mean to cut in front of your post Russ, this is the same thing but I have one and can confirm it will do it. I just use it as a firewire wire router but you can split 1 source to 5 outs with this unit.

Why not try to record a bit onto mini dv or your vhs deck to see if it picks up the color. Are you looping out of the monitor or is it a serarate Mon. feed from the switcher?

Yes the 16 bit is it. FCP can deal with the 3200 but you may as well use 4800Khz and that should get rid of the error message.

Some cameras record audio at 48Khz for 2 tracks or 32Khz for 4 tracks. Maybe check your camera menu settings to see if your “mic in” or “audio in” is set for 2 tracks at 48KHZ and not 4 tracks at 3200Khz.

Also shouldn’t you be using mic level instead of line level or are you running the mic through a mixer or DI?

FCP as a stand alone has never been less than the price of the studio package. In reallity you’ll be getting more like $7000.00 worth of software you won’t be using considering the original cost of Final Touch(Color) and DSP and not to mention Sound Track and Motion.
This studio bundle seemed to originate when Adobe released their studio kit for editors. Since FCP was taking a lion’s share of the editor market, Adobe bolstered Priemier sales by bundleing in a kit form for the same price as FCP. Apple countered with FCS bundles and the rest is history. Most of us who have purchased these programs separately as well as the separate upgrades are certainly not about to start complaining. I just wonder when Apple will throw Shake into the mix! (they already cut the price of it by 800%!)
I guess they figure when you are ready to graduate from Final Cut Express you are ready for the works!

When all else fails there are still the data recovery places that take your drive apart and scan the platters 1 by 1. The cost about $795.00 and up plus you need to send a replacement drive to recieve the recovered data.

Thanks David, I guess I’ve always used circular polarizers that thread right on the lens and square linear filters on my lights. They’re always marked for polarity and have to point a particular direction.
