I’d also have to upgrade my kona2 and firmtek storage host card from the pci-x architecture. All this is working well for me right now but I’m getting anxious about blu-ray.

I’m still running a G5 so Encore is not an option as far as the system requirements state. Hence I find myself looking to the other side.. According to the flyer I got today I can get a dell DC pentium with 20″ LCD for $679.00 with vista. All I’d need to buy is Ulead DVD movie factory Plus for $79.00. It doesn’t support H.264 or aiff but it does support mov. qt.
For a dedicated blu-ray solution it looks interesting for the interm.

I think those HDV cameras can record DV as well as HDV onto mini DV cassettes. Your XL1 is mini DV only so, if that is your only means to capture with, you will need to be provided with mini DV footage only. Even with DV footage sony and canon can have issues.

If you want the project on HDV then you will need to rent a camera or deck to input the footage like Shane said.

but…. didn’t Apple announce this – i-TV at last years’ keynote? The “new” thing is that 8 major studios have agreed to release movies for download from the i-tunes store.

Dunno,…. I’m still waiting for them to produce a laptop using the 23″ cinema display in the lid.

What is interesting about the AIR is the solid state 64GB HDD. Wonder what the through-put is. Maybe Apple should start making P2.

Everyone should go to NAB at least once and everyone should got to Las Vegas at least once (although China has built the biggest casino in the world now). Although I found the NAB trade show awesome I really enjoyed the Las Vegas experience. Attendees should make time for a Vegas Show, Helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon and the Buffet at the Bellagio.

Don’t tell your boss the above or he’ll go.

Dealers often have some really good specials at the trade show. Scan the program guide for specific seminars. Side by side equipment “shoot-outs” are a great opportunity to compare products.

From what I’m gathering here is:
Panasonic advertises the HVX200 to be sold with the 16GB P2 card and Barry’s book in the box along with the camera. I would guess for the dealers with old stock (no book or P2 card prepackaged) Panasonic will send them the book and P2 card afterward and the dealer forwards it to you. The dealer packaged it to you however they saw fit. However, I would expect to receive a P2 card in the plastic holder and a sealed cardboard box like they usually come. If you didn’t receive the official plastic case for the P2 that’s a bummer man cause they keep it dust free and protected when not docked. I would speculate the dealer received the book but not the cards and elected to send you a card they “had around” just to get you looked after while they waited for their next P2 stock to arrive.

The main thing is you got them. Fill out your warranty cards and register them because grey market item serial numbers will not jive with Panasonic’s USA warranty and Panasonic will reject the warranty application automatically.
