Thanks Gary, I did not know this.
I was always told “only on E to E”.Ray Palmer, Engineer

May 3, 2007 at 8:40 pm in reply to: Does Sony offer a 12vdc portable deck that records 1080p?Wargo pointed me towards the Sony HDW S280. It looks like another option. HD SDI I/O at 1080I or P.

May 2, 2007 at 9:31 pm in reply to: Varicam HD-SDI out – to direct disk capture for uncompressed greenscreen[Michael Pierre] “I know it’s possible to come out of the HD-SDI on the Varicam into an AJA Kona 3 and “capture now” within Final Cut to whatever codec you choose.”
Please keep in mind that if you record onto tape in the Varicam and then use the HDSDI out of the camera, you will be compressed. It is only non-compressed during E to E. Off of tape, the signal is compressed.

Are you needing to just break the surface of the water or to go deep?

I bumped into Matt at NAB. He told me he had a low number, around #18 or so. I expect to drooling over his Red camera this summer.
I can’t justify it but I am real curious.

Don’t yell at me but black balancing also worked on our Panasonic HDX900 lit pixel problem.

The HDX900 has two video ouputs, one switchable and one non-switchable .
The rear video out can be switched as HD-SDI, SD-SDI or composite, sometimes refered to as VBS, video blanking sync.
The rear side video out is ALWAYS HD-SDI only.BTW, the switch is on the left side of the camera and is a hard switch not a menu.

[Zak Mussig] “To capture in Pro-Res 422 you’ll need either a capture card or an io-HD. You can’t capture this format over firewire w/o an io-HD. “
So working in Pro-Res 422 and my off speed Varicam footage. Will we be able to remove the filler frames? Right now the FRC plugin only works via fire wire not the HDSI.

[Peter Corbett] “It’s hard to say what effect not releasing a 2/3″ XDCAM HD for at least a year will have on the market.”
I agree. 1/2″ limits what lenses I can rent for long and wide shots. My rental houses mostly carry 2/3″ lenses.
