What does it mean to “Know Editing?”
It means that when you work with those who know producing and directing, they’ll trust you enough to leave you alone to do what you need to do, and they’ll like the results when they come back. Then it’s just some fine tuning. 😉
When it’s not like that, then nobody knows anything….and you all have to find a way of figuring it out together. ;-P

Those decks can be crazy….it’s like choose which city you want to die if you do something wrong. ;-D

BlackMagic Tri-Sync Generator…

I just ordered one for my system. Very affordable.

Thanks Aaron. CC-ing a RED-shot picture in Scratch, back to me in FCP playing off a CalDigit HDOne, then out to HDCAM-SR through my BM Multibridge Pro via HD-SDI. I guess 10-bit uncompressed 4:2:2 YUV it is.

Might have to do a reinstall of FCS or the like. Don’t know what it could, sorry. I guess I was lucky in that it started right up for me.
When I installed my FCS studio upgrade, (after cloning my original hard drive) I first uninstalled all Blackmagic Software, then did the FCS upgrade install, then reinstalled the Blackmagic software/firmware. Maybe something about that order of things helped on my end.

Here may be some helpful info, although it’s based on the last version of FCP….

Agreed…in the ‘Decklink’ section of System Preferences, choose “black’ instead of ‘extended desktop’, if it is set to the former. You’ll have to restart after changing the setup. Color 1.5 works fine with my Multibridge Pro 2 monitoring out.

Does Scratch have issues with a regular EDL output from FCP? I’ve been fine opening up an EDL with renamed clips and referencing the original RED files in Color 1.5, but we might be going with Scratch, so anything you find out from this would be very useful.

You can look through the ‘Easy Setup’ menu when you start up and pick a Seq that matches what you’ve got…e.g. Apple ProRes 422 HQ 2048×1080. Or, pretty-much regardless of what you pick, if you have your media already on your drives and import then into your bin, then drop a shot onto a blank timeline, FCP should ask you if you want to adjust your sequence settings to match the format which you are trying to drop in there…to which you can choose ‘okay’.

Another possibility is to hook up a CRT monitor to your Decklink’s analog outs and check if you notice latency. If not, then it’s probably the LCD itself.
