Not quite sure….I’m experiencing the same as you, except that I have a Multibridge Pro feeding a JVC DT-V120LU via the Multibridge’s HDMI out into the JVC’s DVI-D in….and there’s a frame or so of lag behind the audio which I’m monitoring from the Multibridge’s analog audio outputs. Apparently, on the JVC models with SDI in, the embedded audio from the SDI can be output from the monitor’s audio outputs. But then again, maybe the lag/latency is inherent to the actual video processing/response time of the monitor’s panel, so the monitor’s audio out from the SDI may still be a frame ahead of the picture etc.

There was some third-party plug in that I tried a while back for adjusting audio output sync, but I couldn’t figure out how it would work while in FCP. It really might just be due to an LCD video processing lag. Some people have changed the ‘frame offset’ in system setting from 4 to 6 with seemingly better results.

If you figure anything out, please post the results, thanks.

Did you try tapping the audio monitor outputs from the monitor?

Sure….if they can . If he can only work with a dry recording and can’t get the talent to record again….well.

Try the Low Pass Filter for starters and find a Freq. setting which suits you the best. It will roll off al the freqs. higher than that setting. Then maybe a a High Pass Filter set to around 100-130Hz or so.

Is your media storage drive(s) simple enough that you can take it home with you….like a G-Tech FW800 G-Raid? You could just unplug that, save your project on a USB flash key, and simply open the project up on another Mac.

Sometimes, straight cuts in audio tracks can cause slight ‘pops’ on playback and even output, even when the sound is 48k AIFFs. It can happen more often, as I’ve encountered, with audio that was originally MP3s or WAVs and transcoded into AIFF’s, or even 44.1kHz stuff that’s upsampled to 48. And it can also happen more often when you have a lot of soundtracks layered together….like 8 tracks (or 4 stereo tracks), for example. Sometimes I add little crossfades at the cut points and/or extend the handles. Sound processing in FCP is still rather quirky at times (artifacts left behind where there should be silence, or the content shifting within the track after rendering audio effects). Also try raising the audio playback quality under User Preferences and see if that helps during playback.
