Finishing Pro Res 4444 to DPX
Hi All,
I have a trailer shot on RED, offlined in FCP using the _M proxies, graded in Color. I’ve rendered out of Color at 2K in Pro Res 4444.
The trailer is being screened next week and the screening room require a DPX sequence. I want to test how well the Pro Res 4444 codec, converted to DPX, holds up on the big screen.
The point I’m getting to is that the trailer has a lot of cross dissolves, or to be exact, fades to black, which have been added in FCP. I’ve heard that the dissolve FX in FCP render only 8-bit, would it be wrong to export to DPX from this 2K Pro Res 4444 timeline with FCP dissolves? If the FX are only 8-bit, can I use the opacity settings on each clip instead? Or am I completely barking up the wrong tree, should I go to Shake/AE?
Thanks to all for your help, hope I’ve explained myself.
