Need more info. What format are you cutting in FCP, what Video/Audio Playback setting are you using? Is it playing fast on the timeline/viewer in FCP, or only via video out through the Multibridge?

    What OS X, etc.?

    [Weiss]Ray,

That’s an old sloppy workaround, and it never really was a good idea. [/Weiss]

Works in a pinch, but not something I’d necessarily recommend every time, and certainly not if you’re prepping for mix. But thanks anyway. 😉

Or double up the audio tracks.

I spent five years editing mainly on the Sphere. It actually wasn’t a bad interface, but our machine was a POS…it got to a point where out of every hour of work, I’d spend at least 20 min doing Disk Warriors, reseating cards, etc.. It was hell….so I don’t miss it.

As I remember, it was .imx…or ImMIX.

If this is the monitor you’re talking about….

    https://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9366063&st=dell+monitor&lp=2&type=product&cp=1&id=1218092173453

…it seems to be a very strange animal indeed. Its aspect ratio is listed as 16:9 (and from the pictures, it looks to be that), but its native resolution is listed as 1440×900….which is 16:10. Meaning that if it is displaying things at 16×9, then it is squeezing the picture vertically, giving you that stretched look. This is a very odd configuration, and I can’t see why they would make a model like that. If this is indeed the case, I would return the monitor and opt for the slightly more expensive Dell 19″ (the silver one), which has the same 1440×900 native res, but the right kind of 16:10 screen ratio. A really odd choice for a design on that black one.

The one that’s listed on the Dell site…..

    https://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Displays/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04&sku=320-7459

…says that it’s 16:10, and on that site it looks like it in the pictures, whereas the one on the Best Buy site looks narrower top-to-bottom and says that it’s 16:9. Really……strange.

Can’t you just choose the timeline/sequence, and use ‘Export Using Quicktime Conversion’, and just export a smaller quicktime? H.264 MP4’s work well.

If you look in this thread….

It seems that some problems with the Multibridge monitor out while using Color might be narrowed down to something to do with nVidia cards. Still may have nothing to do with your issues, but it may be worth keeping an eye on.

August 26, 2009 at 11:14 pm in reply to: Finishing Format for output to HDCAM-SR

Right now, we’re looking to go with a scratch facility for Color correction. they said they’d be working off of DPX’s and outputting that way. When I asked if they could export it as a 10-bit uncompressed 4:2:2 YUV, I was told they could only export RGB. They also said that it can output as a ProRes…but say I wanted to go out to HDCAM-SR from FCP via my Blackmagic Multibridge….what would be ideal?

I did my own tests outputting from Color here on my system, going off the original RED raws, as both ProRes and 10-bit unc….looked at both in FCP through various monitors and found the uncompressed to have slightly better sharpness.
