I would use textures… much like if you were to use footsteps in sand.
There is a tutorial on the C4D cafe on how to do this…but in short, make two textures one with a big crack and one with out. On the frame that the buggy smashes into the ground turn the one with the crack on…I would suggest playing with the displacment layer to get real looking depth.

Yes, as long as it does not push the render times out of reach.
There are not any object that will intentionally stir it up though.

There is a tutorial on lynda.com that explains how to do this in FCP with nice results.

The in and out points are in the Bottom NULL Object.
Double click the expresso tag and when you hightlight the “ACTION TIMER”
Under all the coffee code it says: Start time and under that end time…those are your controls.

Is your explosion animated? or does it just break a apart your text and not change over time?
If its animated there are key frames. If it just breaks your object up you need to animate it.

If you click on the Explosion object then look in the attribute manager (default bottom right) in the Object tab there is a Time percentage. Mine defualts to 10% 0 puts your object back together…100 blows everything long gone.
Right click on the little circle to the left of the word time.
You can then see show track, or add key frames.
The little circle will be red if it already has a keyframe.

I think the best way to get this would be sweep nurbs.
You draw your shape with a spline then get a circle (also in splines) then get a sweep nurbs.

Drop the circle and spline in under the sweep nurbs. So it would look like this.
    -SweepNurbs
    |circle
    |Spline

Then you can still adjust the points on your spline to get the right shape.
And you will have to adjust the diameter on the circle.
If your tube ends up flat more like a smear than a tube you have to swap the “plane” on the circle to another option like ZY or what ever.(only three to choose from).

Pretty much yes. Your explosion has keyframes …just move them later in the timeline.
I would right click on the explosion in the object manager (default top right) and choose “show tracks” then move the keyframes to where you want them.

When I ever wanted to change fonts in the text option C4D would quit…so I deactivated some fonts and it has been functioning fine since.
